ROTC 10th Week of Instruction: Map Reading
On March 28, 2026 – The National Service Training Program (NSTP) of Central Philippines State University conducted its 10th week of instruction. Commenced on 0730H, led by 1CL REY BOBADILLA. This week's instruction began with an invocation, followed by the National Anthem and singing of CPSU hymn. After which, a message from LTGEN ANTONIO G. NAFARRRETE, Commanding General, Philippine Army in honor of the ROTC Month. In his message, he emphasizes that the Reserve Officer Training Corps is vital in shaping the future generation of the country. It builds discipline, strengthens character, and nurtures a deep sense of patriotism. It remains a strong pillar in developing a capable, responsive citizen force ready to serve in times of peace and in moments of national need.
Today’s instruction focused on Map Reading, facilitated by SSG ADAM MENESES (Ret.), PA. He emphasized that map reading in the Philippine Army cannot be overstated, as it is a fundamental military skill essential for effective operations, leadership, and survival in the field. Map reading enables cadets to navigate unfamiliar terrain accurately.
In a country like the Philippines, with its diverse geography—mountains, forests, rivers, and coastal areas—being able to interpret maps helps cadets experience to locate distance from the map efficiently without relying solely on technology, which may fail in remote or combat situations. The training officially concluded at 1600H
This activity was conducted under the leadership and supervision of COL EDRALIN L POBLETE, GSC (ART) PA, Group Commander of the 6th Regional Community Defense Group, and COL DON L VILLANUEVA, GSC (INF) (Res) PA, Director of the 605th CDC. Also present were NOEL B.FORDENTE, DPA, Campus Administrator; PFC PFCMA JANESA B CAWALING, MAEd (Res) PA, NSTP Coordinator; and CDT LTC CHRISTIAN ANTHONY P DULAY, 1CL, Unit Corps Commander.
