In the spirit of Leadership, Friendship, and Service, the brothers and sisters of Alpha Phi Omega Chapters — Epsilon Zeta, Gamma Zeta, PC177, Zeta Rho and Beta Nu — united for a meaningful community service and advocacy event, “HIV Advocacy and Testing Activity”, held at Southern City Colleges – Criminology Building, Zamboanga City, last September 28, 2025.
This advocacy was graced by representatives from the City Health Office–Reproductive Health and Wellness Center in collaboration with Mindanao Action Core Advocates for HIV and AIDS in Zamboanga, Inc. (MACAHAZ), and attended by our APOZPAR Region IX Regional Director Sis. Katherine “Kat” Denusta along with regional officers and alumni.
Topics Covered:
• Raising awareness on HIV prevention, testing, and treatment — including Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE)
• Educating members and youth on the Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act of 2018 (RA 11166)
• Encouraging stigma reduction and promoting compassion for persons living with HIV
• Promoting voluntary, confidential, and accessible HIV testing
After the sessions, certificates of appreciation were awarded to all participating chapters and key advocates who contributed to the success of the event.
Attendees were treated with Jollibee snacks, water bottles, candies, and a free coffee station — a simple yet heartwarming gesture that fueled everyone’s energy and symbolized our shared sweetness, warmth, and unity in service.
“Awareness is the first step to compassion, and compassion is the path to true service.”
“Leadership is not just about guiding others — it’s about spreading light where ignorance once stood.”
Fraternal appreciation to our dedicated chapter leaders who spearheaded this initiative:
• Bro. Miftah T. Sabtulla – Grand Chancellor, Gamma Zeta Chapter
• Bro. Mohammad Aljon J. Alibbon – Prime Chancellor, Gamma Zeta Chapter
• Bro. Al-Muhmar T. Adil – Grand Chancellor, Epsilon Zeta Chapter
• Bro. Nurhavier B. Babun – Prime Chancellor, Epsilon Zeta Chapter
A truly successful and eye-opening event for everyone present — proving once again that APO young bloods continue to serve with heart, purpose, and unity for a healthier and more informed community.
