LOOK | Last March 27-28, 2026, the 3rd year Psychology students of Ateneo de Zamboanga University joined LAWIG 2026 at Ateneo de Davao University with the theme, โWeaving Threads of Mindanaoan Identity, Community and Well-Being through Psychologyโ. The event was organized by the Samahang Mag-aaral ng Sikolohiyang Filipino and was participated in by different delegates across Visayas and Mindanao.
The main event was highlighted by different plenary sessions, workshops and competitive events. The first plenary session was led by the ADDU University President, Fr. Karel S. San Juan, SJ, who talked about โPamumunong Makatao: The Psychology of Leaders Rooted in Place and Peopleโ. The second plenary session was about โPhilippines School-Based Mental Health: Strengthening Psychosocial Support for Learners shared by Ms. Norma A. Baluca, MA, LPT, RGC. After the morning session, different workshops took place simultaneously on Counseling and Therapy, Educational Psychology, Environmental and Community Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Youth and Social Media, and Forensic Psychology. The second day commenced with Mx. Hadji A. Balajadia, talking about Tics of Philippine Politics: Exploring the Cycle of Appointment and Dissappointmentโ. It was followed by different competitive events in the afternoon, Saliksikolohiya and Advocacy project pitching, which showcased the principles, dreams, and hearts of different students from different schools.
The event was then concluded with an awarding ceremony and warm encounters in the fellowship and socialization of different psychology students, fostering connections and memories.
Lawig 2026 is more than just a mental health summit; it is a reminder that young minds can spark a big impact, especially in the current situation of our country. In Lawig, different stories and minds crossed and weave, reminding us to be culturally sensitive, be in touch with our identity, and become empathetic to the people around us.
