The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) takes pride in its strong and engaged alumni community, which continues to uphold the University’s mission beyond the campus through groups such as the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Metro Manila Alumni Association (AdZUMMAA), a non-profit organization that brings together AdZU graduates residing in Metro Manila.

Founded in 1989, AdZUMMAA has remained a dynamic platform for alumni engagement, with the late Engr. Paulino Pe, HS Batch 1951, serving as its first president. Through regular gatherings and online channels, the association enables alumni to reconnect while actively supporting the University’s mission through scholarships, which has produced several AdZU Faculty scholars who are now successful in their respective fields and is continuing to pursue their legacy in AdZU, and other initiatives.

At present, AdZUMMAA supports two faculty scholars - Ni**od Datiles of the School of Liberal Arts, Philosophy Department, and Regina Francisco of the School of Liberal Arts, Social Studies Department - underscoring its continuing commitment to academic excellence and faculty development.

In addition to its general assembly, where election of new set of officers takes place, AdZUMMAA annually convenes AdZU alumni for a Christmas Gathering, an occasion that strengthens camaraderie and sustains meaningful connections among members, while also serving as the venue for the election of new officers to carry forward the organization’s mission and purpose.

The newly elected AdZUMMAA officers were formally inducted by AdZU President Fr. Guillrey Anthony “Ernald” M. Andal, SJ, with Atty. Cesar “Sonny” Suñaz re-elected as president.

Further strengthening this commitment, Mr. Rolando Macasaet, HS Batch 1977, has pledged to sponsor an additional faculty scholar to pursue studies at the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), and has also committed to being one of the sponsors of the much-anticipated Major Chords concert.

Altogether, these efforts highlight AdZUMMAA’s continued commitment to keeping the AdZU alumni community connected, supportive, and actively involved. By strengthening relationships, supporting faculty growth, and taking part in meaningful university initiatives, the association helps keep the Ateneo spirit alive and thriving well beyond campus and across generations.

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨 𝐓. 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐨, a dear friend and a proud alumnus of 𝐀𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐙𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟏𝟗𝟔𝟎.

Alumni Association gifts Php 105k to AdZU

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Alumni Association (ADZUAA) turned over Php 105,300 representing ADZUAA's commitment to AdZU to share part of their revenues towards the university mission.

AdZUAA President John Frederick Ruiz expressed that they also plan to have a separate donation for university scholarships to further support the formation of students. They are currently in the process of reviewing a draft agreement with AdZU.

Father Ernald Andal thanked the alumni association, and expressed that it is very meaningful for those who have gone through the experience of Ateneo Education to be part of making it accessible to more people.
