The Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) welcomed delegates from Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) on September 18, 2026, at the UZ Main Campus, Tetuan, Zamboanga City.
NBSC benchmarked UZ’s implementation of the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), as one of the few academic institutions in the region with this certification.
The benchmarking activity featured presentations, sharing of selected documented information and good practices, discussions, and a guided walkthrough of University facilities, providing the NBSC delegation with insights into UZ’s occupational safety and health practices.
The NBSC delegation was led by Mr. Karl Clyde Stephen C. Acosta, RN, Occupational Health and Safety Management Unit Coordinator, and Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan, PhD, Head of the Quality Assurance Office, together with directors, program heads, faculty members, and administrative personnel.
The engagement provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange experiences, identify learning points, and strengthen professional linkages toward safer, healthier, and more resilient academic workplaces.
The activity was organized by the Safety, Health, and Environment Department (SHED) in coordination with the Quality Management Systems Department (QMSD).
The engagement further reflects UZ’s continuing commitment to safety, health, quality, collaboration, and continual improvement, while serving as a learning partner in strengthening occupational safety and health practices within the academic community.
