Today, August 31, 2026, we commemorate National Heroes Day, observed every last Monday of August. It is a time to honor the Filipinos who courageously stood for our nation, as well as the countless unnamed heroes whose sacrifices and dedication helped shape our countryโ€™s freedom and identity.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œ๐‘บ๐’‘๐’Š๐’“๐’Š๐’• ๐’๐’‡ ๐‘ฏ๐’†๐’“๐’๐’Š๐’”๐’Ž, ๐‘บ๐’•๐’“๐’†๐’๐’ˆ๐’•๐’‰ ๐’๐’‡ ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ต๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’,โ€ reminds us that the spirit of our heroes continues to live on. Ateneo de Zamboanga University proudly takes part in the AJCU-AP Global Leadership Program (GLP) held at Sogang University, Seoul, South Korea, from August 9โ€“14, 2026. ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท

On August 8, 2026, the International Studies Organization of the Ateneo (ISOA) gathered the International Studies community at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall (CDCH) for its General Assembly x ASEAN Day, with the theme, โ€œPAGLAWIG: Cultural Currents Across the SEA.โ€ ๐ŸŒŠโ›ต

The program featured the council reports, giving students a glimpse into the organizationโ€™s plans and initiatives for A.Y. 2026โ€“2027. The 3rd Year BA International Studies seniors also shared their internship experiences, offering valuable insights and lessons from their journey. ๐Ÿ’ผ๐ŸŒ

The assembly continued with the oath-taking of the ISOA Council and the recognition of ISOA Moderator Mr. Jasper Noe Pioquinto, marking a new chapter of leadership and service for the organization. Adding to the celebration was our resource speaker, Br. Jeffrey U. Pioquinto, who shared โ€œASEAN-tastic! Stories, Surprises, and Stamp-worthy Lessons,โ€ followed by a vibrant cultural showcase from the 1st to 3rd year students and an exciting ASEAN Kahoot Challenge. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿง 

With new lessons, shared cultures, and stronger connections, ISOA officially sets sail into A.Y. 2026โ€“2027โ€”ready for another journey filled with growth, discovery, and unforgettable memories. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™โ›ต

On International Youth Day 2026, we stand united in celebrating the energy, creativity, resilience, and leadership of young people as vital agents of change who continue to shape their communities and contribute to a better world. As we observe this special occasion, we honor the theme, โ€œDifferent Contexts, Common Aspirations,โ€ which highlights how young people may live in diverse circumstances, yet share common aspirations for dignity, opportunity, participation, and a sustainable future.

This theme reflects the shared hopes of youth across different communities, including those in Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), who continue to face unique challenges and barriers to opportunity.
