Nijmarc H. Najar, Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, and Aliyah Eunice P. Pakam, Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, both from the School of Allied Medicine (SAM), emerged as the grand winner and 2nd runner-up, respectively, at the Mr. and Ms. UZ 2025 Coronation Night held on October 1, 2025, at the Universidad de Zamboanga Summit Centre. Following the Sub-Saharan African theme, the event showcased the elegance, wit, and advocacy of wildcats, turning the stage into a vibrant savanna wilderness.

The event began with an opening salvo followed by the production number of the candidates, where each introduced themselves. A total of eleven departments participated in this event, each represented by one male and one female candidate. The eleven departments are as follows: School of Business and Management, School of Liberal Arts and Science, School of Education, School of Engineering, Information and Communications Technology, School of Dentistry, UZ Pagadian Campus, School of Allied Medicine, UZ Ipil Campus, UZ Senior High School, School of Criminal Justice, and Institute of Technical Education. Celebrity hosts Mr. Sean Kyle Ortega and Ms. Pauline Cucharo Amelinckx then took the stage, joined by the satellite hosts Mr. Marco Deo and Ms. Rose Anne Lumibao.

The Sexy Wear competition followed, wherein the candidates showcased their great physiques and alluring stares while wearing their Jojo Bragais shoes, one of the sponsors of the event. Next came the introduction of the esteemed panel of judges. For the male category, the judges were Mr. Pierre Zachary, Ms. Jazzy Tan-Ebol, Ms. Shaira Ventura, Ms. Malljada Ismael, and Ms. Jeriemay Polidario. Meanwhile, the judges for the female category were Mr. John Dela Peรฑa, Mr. Gio Emanuel Ramirez, Mr. Sedrick Serra, Mr. Khazmier Abdula, and G. Carlito Robin. The criteria for judging were then presented by the satellite hosts. The evening gown competition followed, highlighting the candidatesโ€™ sophistication and poise.

Aside from the Production Number, Sexy Wear Competition, and Evening Gown, the candidates were judged during the preliminary round held last September 20, 2025, at the UZ Summit Centre. They also competed in three segments, namely the Sub-Saharan Costume, School Uniform, and Talent Exposition. Additionally, they underwent a closed-door interview.

Special and minor awards were presented after the Evening Gown Competition. Mr. Nijmarc Najar was awarded the Mr. Votelab.ph Choice Award, the Mr. Globe Choice Award, Best in Sub-Saharan Costume, and Best in School Uniform. Ms. Aliyah Eunice Pakam was awarded Best in Talent, Darling of the Crowd, Best in Sexy Wear, Best in Sub-Saharan Costume, Best in School Uniform, and Best in Closed-Door Interview. After careful deliberation by the judges, the contestants were trimmed down to five pairs. The next part was the final question and answer portion, then the final walk of the top 5 candidates. Following this, the reigning title holders of Mr. and Ms. UZ 2024, Mr. Fahad T. Gadja and Ms. Reisha Herbito, also graced the stage with their final walk.

The coronation night concluded with Mr. Nijmarc Najar crowned as Mr. UZ 2025 and Ms. Daphne Dale D. Pagliwanan of Pagadian Campus as Ms. UZ 2025. Meanwhile, Ms. Aliyah Eunice Pakam secured the 2nd runner-up title. The ranking for the top 5 was as follows: Mr. and Ms. UZ 2025, Mr. Nijmarc Najar (School of Allied Medicine) and Ms. Daphne Dale D. Pagliwanan (UZ Pagadian), 1st runner-up; Mr. Ziad Abdel-Al (UZ Senior High School) and Ms. Princess Ainhee Aleah H. Sabban (UZ Senior High School), 2nd runner-up; Mr. June Fhord S. Andi (UZ Pagadian Campus) and Ms. Aliyah Eunice Pakam (School of Allied Medicine), 3rd runner-up; Mr. Joseph Bapora (School of Dentistry) and Ms. Nurthena Hussin (School of Dentistry); and lastly, 4th runner-up, Mr. Anwar N. Bacatan (School of Criminal Justice) and Ms. Sernaiza Niรฑa P. Pillingan (School of Education).

From the Sashing Ceremony and Contract Signing, Personality Development Training Workshops and Mental Health Awareness Seminars they attended, up to the Grand Coronation Night, the candidates not only showed their beauty but also promoted their advocacies, abilities, and good character. Aliyahโ€™s definition of sustainability as a call to action for allโ€”achieved through heart unity, sparking change for a better futureโ€”and Nijmarcโ€™s call for action in treating AI ethically to build a future of moral minds, global unity, and sustainability, reminded the crowd that true progress arises from our shared responsibility and ethical innovation, united in purpose.

Congratulations to the winners and all contestants for inspiring the Wildcats community with their grace, talent, and unwavering passion!

On September 8, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the UZ Summit Centre, the College of Pharmacy at Universidad de Zamboanga, in collaboration with the JPPhA Omega Chapter, officially welcomed the first-year students through Salubong Pharmates 2025, the college's annual freshmen orientation. The whole-day activity served as the freshmenโ€™s formal introduction to the pharmacy program, academic policies, and the culture of excellence that the college fosters.

The program formally opened with registration, Christian and Muslim prayers, and the singing of hymns and anthems. This set a respectful and inclusive atmosphere. Opening remarks and faculty introductions were led by Prof. Fatimae I. Mariano-Boniao, RPh, MSPHarm, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, together with the other faculty membersโ€” including Prof. Aldalyn J. Handa, RPh; Prof. Shaheena A. Asadil, RPh; and Dr. Teresita T. Tolentino. Informative discussions followed, covering the pharmacy curriculum, grading system, retention and examination policies, academic integrity, experiential pharmacy practice, and the academic calendar. These sessions equipped freshmen with essential knowledge for their academic journey.

To balance learning with engagement, the Masters of Ceremonies facilitated interactive activities throughout the day, including Zumba, trivia games, the PHARMAkonekta competition, a uniform showcase, and recreational games that encouraged camaraderie and teamwork among the students. Prof. Aldalyn J. Handa, RPh, and Prof. Shaheena A. Asadil, RPh, chapter advisers for the JPPhA Omega Chapter, led the introduction of chapter officers and the oath-taking ceremony. The event was spearheaded by the JPPhA Omega Chapter, under the leadership of Ms. Rhona Mae Majuk, Chapter President, alongside Ms. Neckle Jade Olis, its Internal Vice President.

The program concluded with the awarding of outstanding participants, closing messages, photo opportunities with the faculty members, and the singing of the UZ hymn. Through this event, Salubong Ka-Pharma, the College of Pharmacy reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing not only academically competent students but also future pharmacists grounded in professionalism, service, and unity. This orientation marked a meaningful start for the freshmen as they officially joined the growing community of future pharmacists.
