On November 25, the 11th Congress of the WMSU-USC Senate was officially inaugurated, ushering in a fresh wave of leadership and marking an exciting new chapter for the student body. The session, led by outgoing Senate President Hon. Jehan G. Gunao from the College of Teacher Education, reflected on the remarkable achievements of the 10th Congress. The past yearโs accomplishments were celebrated, and gratitude was expressed for the hard work that shaped those successes. The beginning of the new academic year called for the election of a new group of officials, committed to working towards a better WMSU.
In the viva voce election, Hon. Sadriemar Sali from the College of Public Administration and Development Studies was elected as the new Senate President, with Hon. Mark Jay B. Cabato elected as Senate President Pro Tempore and Hon. Rafel Angelo Buntag appointed by the majority as Majority Floor Leader. Hon. Sitti Raiza Abubakar was appointed as Majority Whip. Meanwhile, Hon. Ahmad Rauf A. Abdurauf and Hon. Jirecho Lopez was elected as Minority Floor Leader and Minority Whip, respectively. The Senate is ready for a year of growth, cooperation, and continued dedication to serving the student body. Hereโs to a successful start and even greater accomplishments ahead! ๐
