Western Mindanao State University proudly celebrates a significant milestone as it receives the Platinum Award for Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) in recognition of its outstanding performance in promoting intellectual property protection, innovation, and technology commercialization. The award was conferred during the ITSO Presidential Summit held in Iloilo City on March 25, 2026 recognizing the university as one of the top-performing ITSOs in the country this year.
The Platinum Award represents the highest category of recognition given to Innovation and Technology Support Offices under the ITSO Network. This category is awarded to institutions that have demonstrated exceptional performance and consistent accomplishments in intellectual property creation, protection, and management, including the filing of patents, utility models, industrial designs, and trademarks, as well as active initiatives in IP awareness, capacity building, technology transfer, and commercialization activities.
This achievement was made possible under the leadership of IPTBM-ITSO Manager Engr. Arvic S. Francisco, together with the dedicated technical associates and staff of the office. The success was further strengthened through the support and guidance of the Western Mindanao State University President , Dr. Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena, the Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Teresita Narvaez, the guidance of the former Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Joel Fernando and the Director for Research and Evaluation Center, Dr. Reynante E. Autida.
This recognition reflects the university’s continued commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening intellectual property protection, and empowering researchers, faculty, and students to contribute to national development through research and technology transfer.
