Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement Office - AdZU Official page of SACSI Office. The acronym “SACSI” in the Filipino language means “witness”. This is an apt description of what the office is all about.

The office serves as a witness to the social realities of the larger society; and being so, convey the facts from the University of Life to the Ateneo academe to develop a sense of social commitment among the students, faculty and staff of our community for a just, humane and God-inspired society. SACSI stands for Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement. This is the office within the un

iversity that serves as the link between the school and the outside communities to complement theories learned in the classroom with the actual realities of life. As the social involvement arm of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, it is guided by the principles of academic excellence, socio-political maturity, and spiritual growth. Its primary concern is the holistic formation of the students – to be Men and Women of God, for others.

Malayo na pero malayo pa...? 🤔

Two days until we celebrate the culmination of our Journey of Purpose. We became companions together for one purose, and we’ve built synergy with one action along the way.✨

Hold onto the memories, document the last few moments with your groups, and get ready to spread the realities of service. 🤝

See you, Ateneans!

SACSI - NSTP | Better, Bolder, and Wiser: More than just an activity, it’s a shared mission and heartbeat.🫀

Throughout the journey of NSTP course, our students have experienced that service is not just about the work we do. It is about the people we become when we do it together. As we conclude this year, we move forward with "Synergy: Companions in the Journey of Purpose."

The culmination of The Exchange Program brought together PHIHUM students from both the 1st and 2nd semester, along with their community partners, in a meaningful gathering that marked the completion of their immersive journey.

The students were deployed for the whole month of April across 12 different labor immersion areas, where they engaged in meaningful community experiences, applying classroom learning to real-life contexts of work and social realities.

The event was graced by the presence of Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Mr. Robin Delos Reyes, SACSI Office Director Ms. Charissa Mae Ibanez, and the Philosophy Department instructors, who joined in recognizing the students’ journey of learning, engagement, and formation.

The culmination highlighted the integration of philosophical learning and lived experience, honoring the growth and reflection gained throughout the program.

CONNECT 2026: Bridging Learning and Lived Realities

As we formally conclude the Exchange Program for this semester and this academic year, we invite you to take part in a meaningful culmination of experiences, reflections, and shared journeys.

“CONNECT,” this culmination emphasizes the core of the Exchange Program—bringing together learning and lived realities. It represents the connections formed between students and communities, between theory and practice, and within oneself through reflection and meaningful engagement.

This event highlights the significant connections formed between students and communities, where learning transcends the classroom and becomes grounded in real-life encounters, deeper understanding, and personal growth.

All PHIHUM students taking the course are required to attend.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their Exchange Shirt 2026 or any dominant white shirt.

A limited number of Exchange Shirts 2026 will also be available for purchase at the venue on a first come, first served basis.

Join us as we celebrate a journey of connection, reflection, and transformation.

"Mas kaunti ang kinikita namin araw-araw.”

Meet Erwin Ebol, a tricycle driver from the Pasonanca route. Erwin points out a harsh reality for many of our transport workers: while the price of gasoline continues to climb, tricycle fares remain the same, and the number of passengers has decreased. This leaves drivers like him with a much smaller window to provide for their family’s needs.

Through , we are working to bridge that gap. By providing essential food packs, we help ensure that drivers don't have to choose between fueling their vehicles and feeding their loved ones.

As we wrap up our Labor Day distribution to 500 drivers, we ask for your continued support to keep this program moving forward.

‘Kalinga sa Manibela’ Extends Aid to 500 Jeepney and Tricycle Drivers on Labor Day

With fuel prices continuing to reduce daily earnings among public transport workers, 500 jeepney and tricycle drivers in Zamboanga City received food assistance through “Kalinga sa Manibela” on May 1, 2026, helping ease household expenses and provide short-term relief to drivers struggling to sustain their families amid rising operational costs. Organized by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) through the Social Development Unit (SDU) and Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement Office (SACSI), supported by the Tanging Yaman Foundation and donations from individuals and stakeholders.

In observance of Labor Day, AdZU reaffirmed its solidarity with transport workers by recognizing their vital role in keeping communities connected and local economies moving, while grounding the initiative in its Ignatian values of justice, service, and care for vulnerable sectors.

The SDU and SACSI continue to accept in-kind donations. The public may visit the official SDU page for updates and opportunities to support the ongoing “Kalinga sa Manibela” initiative.
