and Sketching Competition
Organized by Inspirer Society of Political Science (ISPS)
On 20th September 2025, the Inspirer Society of Political Science (ISPS) organized a Painting and Sketching Competition for the students of Government Postgraduate College No. 1, Abbottabad. The event was arranged to encourage creativity, co-curricular engagement, and the holistic development of students. Preparations for the event began well in advance, ensuring a smooth and successful ex*****on.
The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a Naat presented by students of the Department of Political Science. After the opening session, Director ISPS – Auzair Mehmood (Lecturer in Political Science), President ISPS – Muhammad Ali (7th Semester, Political Science) and Director Events ISPS – Bakhtawar Momand (7th Semester, Political Science) led the judges, faculty members, administrative staff, Chief Proctor GPGC No. 1, ATD – Dr. Waqas Jadoon and controller of examination GPGC No. 1 ATD – Mr. Malik Yasir for an official visit to the Art Exhibition arranged alongside the competition.
The exhibition featured contributions from the Government Home Economics College, Abbottabad, a professional institution renowned for its excellence in creative arts. Selected art pieces and projects created by their students were displayed, providing valuable exposure to participants and adding to the attraction of the event.
After the exhibition visit, participants were led to the competition hall to showcase their artistic skills. The Inspirer Society of Political Science provided all the required materials, including canvases, colors, brushes, sketching pencils, papers, and other necessary items, ensuring equal opportunity for all participants.
Throughout the day, the Department of Political Science remained in the spotlight, emerging as the most frequently visited place on campus. Students and faculty members – accompanied by their chairpersons – from various departments visited both the exhibition and the competition hall. Notably, faculty members from the Departments of Economics, English, Physics, Botany, and History admired the efforts of the organizing team and ISPS society and commended their talent.
The event was further graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Umar Swati, Manager HR Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSCA), accompanied by Mr. Wasiq Manzoor, Deputy Manager HR WSSCA, and their team. They praised the remarkable artistic contributions of the students from Home Economics College, Abbottabad, and encouraged the competitors for their dedication and creativity.
In addition, the Honourable Principal GPGC No. 1, Abbottabad, Professor Dr. Muhammad Aftab, along with the Vice Principal, Dr. Faiz Alam, visited the event. Their presence reflected institutional encouragement, and they lauded the collective efforts of students, faculty, and organizers.
During the exhibition and competition, guests from VASA and faculty members shared their views on the importance of such creative platforms. The esteemed judges from Government Home Economics College, Abbottabad – Madam Faryal Safdar (Associate Professor) and Madam Nazish Gulfam (Assistant Professor, Art and Design) – also shared their experiences and professional insights with the Chief Guest and other visitors.
At the conclusion, the judges announced the results, appreciating the outstanding performances of participants from both the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Sciences. They highlighted the students’ enthusiasm for fine arts, sketching, and painting, and commended the depth of their talent. They also appreciated the Director ISPS, Auzair Mehmood, and his entire team and department for organizing such a successful event.
Prizes and certificates were then distributed among the winners: First, Second, and Third positions in Painting, and First, Second, and Third positions in Sketching. Along with this, all the participants and competitors were given certificate of participation. The delegation of students from Government Home Economics College Abbottabad were also given the certificates for their participation in Art Exhibition.
Following the prize distribution, Mr. Auzair Mehmood, Director ISPS and Lecturer in Political Science, addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he emphasized the significance of co-curricular activities in building character and resilience. He stated that every innovation, discovery, and invention – whether in arts, humanities, or sciences – originates as a picture or sketch in the mind of its creator. He further observed that activities like painting and sketching, where one continuously corrects, redraws, and retries, nurture creativity, persistence, tolerance, perseverance, and many other hidden attributes essential to the overall personality of a student and an individual.
Director ISPS appreciated his entire team and applauded them. He mentioned that every member of the society, including President ISPS, Muhammad Ali, General Secretary ISPS Sami Ullah Khan (3rd Semester Political Science), Decoration Team lead by Hareem Abbassi (7th Semester Political Science), Media Team led by Touseef Nazar (7th Semester Political Science), Coordinator for MUNs, Debates, and Arts Ammara Jadoon (5th Semester Political Science) and her team, Coordinator for Seminars and Events – Yasir Wazir (5th Semester Political Science) and his team, Finance Coordinators Mohib Ullah and Urooj Javed (7th Semester Political Science) and the Director Events ISPS – Bakhtawar Momand (7th Semester Political Science), worked very hard to make this event a success story.
The Chairman Department of Political Science, Professor Arshad Mehmood, also appreciated the Director ISPS and his entire team to organize such a wonderful and colourful event at the department.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Umar Swati, also shared his views. He applauded the efforts of the students and the Society, assuring that WSSCA would proudly sponsor future activities organized by ISPS. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Government Home Economics College, Abbottabad, and pledged full collaboration for joint projects in the future.
At the end of the event, the Honorable Principal, Professor Dr. Muhammad Aftab, expressed his gratitude to all distinguished guests, delegations, judges, and the Chief Guest for their participation. He extended special thanks to the proud sponsors of the event – WSSCA, Abbottabad, and VEDCOM – for their valuable support. The Principal also praised the efforts of Director ISPS, Mr. Auzair Mehmood, and the entire Society team for organizing such a brilliant and outstanding event, which contributed significantly to the educational and cultural atmosphere of the institution.
The event ended on refreshment for the distinguished guests. The refreshments were arranged by the ISPS Food Committee led by Haram Rashid (7th Semester Political Science) and her team.
