The Faculty of Arts & Languages proudly won the Cricket Tournament at the IUB Inter-Faculty Sports Festival 2026. Mr. Atta ur Rehman and Mr. Hasnain Saleem from the Department of English Literature represented the faculty with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Mr. Hasnain Saleem delivered an outstanding performance and was awarded Player of the Tournament.

The MPhil Viva Voce examinations of four students were successfully conducted in the Department of English Literature, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, on 3rd March, 2026.

Ms. Saira Afzal completed her research under the supervision of Ms. Mahahil Farrukh, Ms. Rimsha Saeed under Ms. Atta-e-Elahi, Ms. Shazia Mansab under Ms. Zahra Ahmad Abbasi, and Ms. Zunasha Saleem under Mr. Husnain Saleem.

Dr. Shaista Andleeb, Principal, Govt. Zainab Graduate College (W), Multan, served as the External Examiner.

The proceedings were attended by Prof. Dr. Sohail Ahmad Saeed, Chairman, Department of English Literature, who congratulated the successful candidates, extended his best wishes for their future, and assured them of the department’s continued guidance and full support.

A proud moment for the Department of English Literature as two of its students, Ayesha Arshad and Ali Hamza, participated and completed the 50 Books a Year Reading Competition (Term 2025), organized by Read Pakistan in collaboration with IUB.
Among numerous participants, these two students fulfilled all academic requirements and were awarded certificates by the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran.
The focal person of the IUB Read Pakistan Program, Mr. Rana Muzammil Fayyaz, briefed the Vice Chancellor on the program’s objectives and highlighted the students’ consistent commitment throughout the term.
Dr. Shahzad Khalid, Director, Media & Public Relations, along with Dr. Noveen Javed and Ms. Alina Tariq Chauhan (Assessment Committee Members), were also present.
The Vice Chancellor applauded the students’ perseverance and dedication to a culture of reading and encouraged them to continue exploring the transformative power of books.

Mr. Aurangzeb Wattoo completed his doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sohail Ahmad Saeed, while Ms. Ambreen Bibi conducted her research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Asif Khan.

Prof. Dr. Sohail Ahmad Saeed visited the Department of English BZU Multan to celebrate Prof. Dr. Naveed Ahmad's remarkable tenure. Dr. Naveed is retiring on March 3rd, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dignity and nobility in teaching. Prof. Dr. Syed Shahid Hussain, from the Department of Political Science BZU, and Dr. Asif Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Food Sciences IUB, and Dr. Muzafir Bhatti Assistant Professor English BZU also joined to commemorate the occasion. On the direction of the worthy Vice Chancellor and under the kind patronage of Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, the SDGs Collaborative Centre organized an awareness session in the Department of English Literature on February 23, 2026. Prof. Dr. Rao Sohail Ahmad Saeed, Chairman, Department of English Literature, appreciated the initiative. Prof. Dr. Samar Fahad, Dr. Maryam Abbas Sahawordi, Dr. Noveen Javed, Ms. Alina Tariq, and Rana Muzamil Fayyaz briefed the students about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and guided them on how these goals can be understood, internalized, and practically implemented in daily life, academic pursuits, and community engagement within their individual capacities.
Dr. Mumtaz Khan, Chairman, Department of Saraiki, and Dr. Zeeshan Tabasum from the Department of Urdu, along with their students, also participated in the session.
The students appreciated the activity, found the session informative and motivating, and expressed their commitment to contributing positively toward the achievement of the SDGs in their personal and professional lives.
