Commemorating and bearing the privileged name of the Father of the Nation was established on 2nd December, 1971, at the hands of then Governor of the Punjab (Late) lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Attiq ur Rehman. Main College Building The humble beginnings of this institution, which was initially housed temporarily in the building of the Government vocational institute at Baghdad-ul-jadeed, Bahawalpur, have
now transformed into one of the premier medical education institutes of our country of our country, with a custom build premises having a traditional façade. The magnificent campus, sprawling over 207 acres is situated right in the heart of this divisional metropolis, and is delivering tertiary medical care facilities to a population of around 15 million, in addition to producing 250 qualified graduates annually. Since its incipience QAMC, for the purposes of clinical training of students, has been affiliated with Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur. This magnanimous health facility has a niche of its own, in the annals of history, having been inaugurated by the (Late) Mr. Viscount Wavell, the then viceroy of India in 1906, and being christened after Her Majesty Queen Victoria of England. The tides of time have certainly carved out the destiny of this health institution, which has current bed strength of 1410 and comprises of nearly all essential departments of clinical specialties. QAMC is recognized by the PM&DC, G.M.C (UK), CPSP (Pak), CPS (Bangladesh), for the training of undergraduate medical students.
