I was among very few students who completed a lot of pre-internship and gained a lot of experience from these pre internships. During DVM, I had to face so many troubles not only financially but also related to health.
In 2014,

A.o.a Dear Vets
I'm from Qila Dewa Singh, Village of Tehsil Depalpur, and District Okara. My home town is roundabout 70km away from Okara. I hope my story will be motivational for my fellow veterinarians. It was really tough for me to compile my story and all events which happened with me during my study life. I am really thankful to Dr. Umar Farooq and Dr. Zahra Batool, who helped me through writing this story.
I belong to a middle class, farmer family who paid enough for my life. I know better that no one knows about my circumstances in which I had completed my study; some people spiritually supported me, and a very few provided me financial support. All my college, university fellows, friends, and teachers think that I belong to a well off family that own hectares of land, but my dear father has no property, no owned business, but they paid heed to my all demands and fulfill my all requirements. My father is a Hero of the world for my family, and for me, he took every step for us and earn money by working 24 hours. I'm emotional at this moment, and tears came out from my eyes while typing this story. In fact, it was excruciating for me to write my story.
My matriculation was from Govt High School No.1 Haveli Lakha, which is 16km away from my home town. My father paid his role in my pick-and-drop and whenever he was late like 10 to 20 minutes, I behaved rudely to my father, but he never reacted with anger. I was stupid in those days and feel guilty because of my behavior. I had done FSc from Superior College Okara on marks merit basis 100% scholarship; if the scholarship was not attained, Fsc was a dream for me, and nowadays, I would have been working in the commerce field as an accountant or cashier. During FSc 2011-13, I lived in a private hostel and worked there as a warden, in return owner took only mess meal fees from me. After FSc, tried for MDCAT but did not thrive. I had no guider or educated man in my family who support me or gave any suggestions for the selection of any field for the future, which was suited to me. When not selected for MBBS, the only remaining choice for me was DVM.
I then applied for DVM in UAF, UVAS, and IUB, for BS Agri sciences in UAF. I was selected for DVM in Islamia University Bahawalpur. The new era of my life started, which had a lot of problems, pain, hard work, and happiness that now I will be a Veterinarian. The real story began when admitted to Islamia University Bahawalpur for a DVM degree. First time in life, I visited Bahawalpur only for the sake of study. My father's earning was not enough to fulfill university dues and other expenditures. My first dues were submitted by taking a loan from my father's friend. Tensions were increasing when thinking about the next university dues, university dressing, hoteling, entertainment with friends, and many other problems. Another pressure was there, which was much bigger than these. Our University Veterinary College had no registration with PVMC, so the first-semester strike started, and there were no classes or exams. The first-semester duration was 9 months in total, and the 2nd semester was only of two and half months.
First turn of my Vet Life: In the first semester holidays, when I come back to home and I started a job as a Broiler Farm Supervisor and also as a doctor of 22000 birds flock with Rs. 14000 salary. Those days were harrowing for me because I had to work as labor also, which I can't think that I will do like racking of litter, unloading of feed bags, open feed bags in the hopper. I will never forget that the first 72 hours of my duty, I had no sleep even for an hour. I said to myself, "Do or die ". I had done and earn a reputation in My Vet College because I was the first student who did a job at such an early level of degree. Then I joined govt high school for Girls Hujra Shah Muqeem as a clerk for budget working for 10 days. I did it, Alhamdulilah. By completing those two tasks, I earned 24000 and continued the 2nd semester. In those days, my father's partnership work totally flopped, and it was challenging for me to keep the study. In 3rd semester I had no semester fees and hostel dues. I remember when I was crying in the lawn of Ali Hall, talking on call with mama jaan. She was also crying and said to me my Son come back home we have no money for your dues. Those days were awful for my family and for me, but I have trust in ALLAH that I will complete my study. Someone supported me for four years, and I completed my education.
In DVM, I have done 6 pre-internship.
1: Hi-Tech feed mill
2: R & D farm
3: Breeder Farm
4: Hatchery
5: Broiler Farm
6: Nishat Dairy farm
I was among very few students who completed a lot of pre-internship and gained a lot of experience from these pre internships. During DVM, I had to face so many troubles not only financially but also related to health.
In 2014, I was operated for appendicitis. In 2017 on 6 November, I got a bike accident, and right side clavicle bone got fractured, and blood clotted in the brain, because of that memory loss occurred. This was a major mishap during my DVM study. I had no memory about "who I am and where I am." My brain was totally washed out; I had nothing to say about studying, friends, relatives, and family. All theoretical knowledge, all things washed out, only practical remained. Due to the prayers of my loved ones, I came back, and now I'm living a healthy life, thanks to ALLAH Almighty for these blessings.
All my friends and teachers supported me, and I cleared all exams. In the last year of DVM 2018, I was selected for the Job of Farm Manager directly in the Internship period in Faisal Chicks, where I worked in 2016. 4-month internship completed, and then I continue my job by daily coming back for classes from Basti Malook Multan to Bahawalpur. These last 2 months were a tough routine for me, day time classes, and the night on duty at the farm. In December 2018, I had to resign from the job because of a low salary, so much hard work, and a tough routine. After the declaration of Final Exams in February 2019, I went back to home. In March 2019, an Interview call from a leading group of Pakistan in poultry, Jadeed Group of Companies. Thanks to ALLAH Almighty. I was selected and joined the Jadeed group 24 April 2019, with a handsome starting salary. Now I have completed 14 months in Jadeed Group and working as a Farm Officer.
I also participated in extra-curricular activities during study life. In school life, I was Javelin throw winner at tehsil level and in college life district winner and won 2nd position at the division level. In University, Volley Ball and Javelin throw champion in every year's sports gala. I also participated in the different organization working for the welfare of human being.
We all know that the Public sector have only limited facilities for us, and thousands of vets are jobless at home. But one crucial thing is, the private sector has good potential and excellent facilities for vets, so to avail this chance one must have to work hard. One suggestion to all my dear vets is that first of all, select a particular field either poultry or livestock or any other and go through it during your degree. And do pre-internship in all summer holidays and hard work during the degree.
In this way, you can get experience in your field and easily you can get good opportunities future.
May Allah bless all of you.
Stay blessed
