The Government College Women University Faisalabad started its educational role in 1934 and after a decade, in the year 1944 it matured as Degree College, shifted to its present building in 1985, initiated Post Graduate classes in 1994. It emerged as one of the leading female Post Graduate College in Faisalabad. Keeping in view its immense educational growth rate, on 3rd January 2013, it attained the status of First Women University in Faisalabad and was renamed as The Government College Women University, Faisalabad. A very strong and historical initiative of the Chief Minister of The Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. Dr. Zakir Hussain, Vice Chancellor, Government College University Faisalabad was entrusted with the charge of Acting Vice Chancellor of Women University Faisalabad. Vision

Faisalabad, August 14, 2025 — Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) commemorated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq 2025 with great patriotic fervor, in an event organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs.

The ceremony began with the flag hoisting, heartfelt prayers for the country’s prosperity, and an impressive march past by the police band, female police squad, and university guards.

Addressing the audience, Chief Guest Major General (R) Nasrullah Tahir Dogar emphasized, “It is not the army alone that defends the nation; every citizen is a guardian of our homeland.”
In her remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.) emphasized that we need to remember Quaid’s vision and equally respect all citizens of Pakistan—regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background under the constitution. Prof. Dr. Ameen also applauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment and sacrifices in protecting the country’s sovereignty and ensuring national security.

The celebrations featured certificate distribution to organizers and winners of various competitions held on August 13, soul-stirring milli naghma performances, cake cutting, and a group photograph—each moment capturing the essence of national pride, unity, and gratitude. Faculty, staff, and their families joined the celebrations along with students.
