Honestly, it's a bit disappointing to see so many provincial and national moot court competitions happening around the country — organized by different universities and institutions — yet not a single student from Government Law College Hala is showing up.

These moots aren't just competitions; they build confidence, sharpen research and speaking skills, and teach the value of teamwork — all the things a law student truly needs.

Hoping the students and faculty start taking this seriously. It's time to step up and represent!

"Hi everyone,

I'm writing this with a heavy heart. I've seen many friends and colleagues struggling to find their way after graduation. They're worried about their careers and don't know what to do. Yesterday, I saw a WhatsApp status from a college friend. She was offering to take on a case for just Rs 5,000/-. It made me realize that we often overlook important areas of law during our studies.

To my junior fellow students, I want to highlight three crucial areas:

1. Intellectual Property Law: Protecting new ideas and innovations.
2. Corporate Law: Understanding business deals and governance.
3. Taxation Law: Helping individuals and businesses with financial strategies.

Mastering these subjects can lead to:

- High-paying jobs
- Exciting work environments
- Specialization opportunities
- Shaping future policies

Explore these fields, attend workshops, network with professionals, and build a strong foundation. These areas will boost your career and impact the business world.

I humbly request our respected Principal to consider arranging:

- Expert teachers specializing in these fields
- Workshops and seminars for hands-on experience
- Guest lectures from professionals
- Career guidance and mentorship programs

This will empower us to make informed choices and excel in our careers.

Stay curious, stay focused. Have a pleasant day.

Mooting is a simulated court proceeding where student teams are presented with a legal problem which they are required to argue before a ‘judge’ or panel of ‘judges’.

Through their preparation and presentation of each case, students must show an understanding of the relevant law and how it should be applied in their client’s case. (How it should be applied is the key phrase here because, as most new law students quickly discover, there are usually two sides to any legal argument!)

Whilst most people think of moots as an oral competition, they almost always involve a written component where competitors are required to prepare and submit a ‘memorial’ outlining their case prior to arguing it verbally in the moot court. The research and writing involved in preparing the written memorials are a crucial element of success in mooting competitions.

Generally speaking, each mooting competition focuses on a specific area of legal argument such as family law, international law, criminal law, commercial law, intellectual property law, humanitarian law, constitutional law, administrative law and so on.

This session will be held on Tuesday 07 November 2023.
