As the world advances towards COP31, it is important to recognize and showcase the meaningful sustainability initiatives being undertaken at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, National Skills University Islamabad.

Sustainability is not merely a concept for us — it is embedded in our academic vision, administrative practices, and institutional culture. From water conservation initiatives to campus greening efforts, we continue to promote environmentally responsible practices within the university ecosystem.

A significant milestone has been the nomination of Dr. Irfan Ahmad Gondal, Chairperson of the Department, to contribute towards authoring Pakistan’s Draft Hydrogen Strategy — an important step towards the country’s clean energy transition and green industrial future.

The department is also proudly collaborating with UNIDO under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Green Hydrogen Project in Pakistan, contributing towards innovation, research, and sustainable energy development.

In partnership with TİKA, we are pioneering the “Green Energy Skills Lab” in Pakistan, aimed at equipping youth with future-ready green skills and technical competencies for a sustainable economy.

Furthermore, our groundbreaking Geothermal Cooling Project is underway to develop sustainable and energy-efficient air conditioning systems tailored for Pakistan’s environmental and climatic needs.

As COP31 approaches, we reaffirm our commitment towards climate action, green innovation, and sustainable development.

The Department of National Skills University, Islamabad expanded its global footprint by developing academic and research linkages with Ulkhanov university in Kazakhstan, Sharif University of Technology (Iran), leading organisations in Türkiye and through engagement with the Project, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Year-end academic highlights from the Technology Department at (NSU) 🎓⚙️

The department takes pride in a year marked by academic excellence, global engagement, and research:

🔹 The Chairperson of the Department Dr. Ahmad Gondal continued to adorn the world’s % Researchers list for the 3rd consecutive year, reflecting sustained scholarly excellence and international recognition.
🔹 education was significantly strengthened through strategic collaboration under the UNESCO–UNEVOC–GIZ partnership, enhancing quality, relevance, and global alignment of skills training.
🔹 The department had the honor of addressing multiple national and international forums on energy, contributing thought leadership in emerging and sustainable energy domains.
🔹 A major international milestone was achieved with an invitation to join the China–Pakistan TVET Industrial Centre of Excellence , reinforcing cross-border academic–industrial cooperation.

Year-end reflections bring a sense of pride and purpose for the Technology Department at National Skills University (NSU).

Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Ahmad Gondal, the department achieved significant milestones across teaching, skills development, policy engagement, and sustainability, with Sustainable Energy and -7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) as a key focus area.

🔹 The department became an active partner in the UNIDO–GEF Green Hydrogen Project, contributing to national capacity building in emerging technologies.
🔹 Recognizing his domain expertise, Dr. Irfan Ahmad Gondal was nominated to contribute to the drafting of Pakistan’s Strategy, supporting evidence-based policy formulation at the national level.

🎉 National Skills University Islamabad – Sports Week 2025 Officially Begins! 🎉

We are pleased to announce the commencement of Sports Week 2025 at National Skills University, Islamabad.
First and foremost, we are very thankful to our Worthy Vice Chancellor for inaugurating this exciting event and for his continuous support in promoting sports, health, and co-curricular activities on campus.

Throughout the week, students from both boys’ and girls’ wings will compete in a variety of games, including Cricket, Football, Tug of War, Volleyball, Running, Badminton, and Table Tennis.

Mr. Muhammad Younus, Lecturer in the Department of General Studies, National Skills University Islamabad, presented his research at the International Symposium on the Role of the Sixth Hijri Century in the Development of Islamic Sciences, organized by the Faculty of Ilahiyat, Istanbul University, from 27–29 November 2025.
This symposium is part of Istanbul University’s prestigious multi-year academic project “Asr Asr İslâmî İlimler” (Islamic Sciences Through the Centuries), which systematically examines the intellectual development of Islamic sciences across different eras. The sixth symposium focused on the intellectual richness of the 6th Hijri / 12th century CE, a period marked by major advancements in theology, philosophy, jurisprudence, Sufism, and scientific thought.
Representing National Skills University, Mr. Muhammad Younus presented his research paper titled:
“Al-Ghazālī and the Sixth Century’s Intellectual Revolution: Theology, Science, and the Boundaries of Knowledge.”
His paper offered a critical reassessment of Imām al-Ghazālī’s role in shaping the intellectual landscape of the sixth century AH, particularly his engagement with philosophy, natural sciences, causality, and the boundaries of reason and revelation. The presentation received appreciation from participating scholars for its depth, clarity, and contribution to ongoing discussions on Islamic intellectual history.
Mr. Younus’s participation highlights NSU’s growing academic engagement at the international level and reflects the university’s commitment to encouraging research, scholarly exchange, and global collaboration.
