The online registration is now open for International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies to be held on Sep. 12-13, 2017, at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. It is being organized by US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar. The deadline for online registration is Aug 15, 2017. Registration is free and selected participants/students will also get free accommodation/local hospitality in Islamabad. First, second and third position holders in poster competition will get Rs. 50 K, 35 K and 20 K respectively as poster prizes in addition to the shields and the certificate of appreciation. The recommended poster size is 36" X 48". Moreover, we have limited slots (up to 5) for young researchers working abroad (senior PhD students and young postdocs) to give a short presentation or present posters on any of the conference themes and USPCAS-EP will also cover their travelling, boarding/lodging and local hospitality etc. (Competition would be very tough though) - Especially those who have potential to be considered for faculty position at USPCAS-EP in future. National Conference on Green Energy Technologies is being organised by US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies at PC hotel, Peshawar, on May 18, 2017. Registration is free and selected participants/students will also get the travel support (public transport, actual cost) and free accommodation/local hospitality. First, second and third position holders in poster competition will get Rs. 30 K, 20 K and 10 K respectively. The recommended poster size is 36" X 48". U.S.-Pakistan Centers for Advanced Studies in Energy
USPCAS-E UET Peshawar undertook a wider outreach program with targeted engineering departments and private HE institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The staff delivered subject specific sessions advising prospective students and faculty through exclusive visits. In this respect, the staff visited UET Bannu Campus on 18th February. The Campus also hosted students from Bannu University of Science and Technology, Postgraduate College No. 2 and Rashid Mnhas University of Science and Technology, Bannu.

The purpose was to highlight the vision of USPCAS-E, UET Peshawar to expedite the recruitment activities of Spring Admission Intake 2016 and encourage women to participate in the program. Mr. Adnan Alam, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist deliberated in detail on funding and scholarship opportunities for students, applied research, entrepreneurship program and admission criteria for each stream with an emphasis on M.Sc. program in Electrical Energy Engineering System and Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion. He also answered questions from students on various questions related to admissions criteria, application procedure and internship opportunities.

Yasir Irfan Badrashi, Coordinator UET Bannu Campus in his opening address said, Pakistan’s energy crisis can only be dealt through talented and qualified human resource. This is commendable work by the US Government for taking up this initiative of providing exceptional learning opportunities to Pakistani universities where through partnership with US universities, Pakistani students are working on research projects with the faculty of ASU. This reflects the commitment of USAID to help Pakistan find innovative solutions of energy challenges.

Shamaila Farooq, Communications Manager briefed the audience on vision of Center and presented vote of thanks to Coordinator Bannu Campus, student societies; Literary Debating Society, Recreational Society for facilitating the visit. The staff also gave away publicity material and souvenirs among students and faculty.
