COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Software Productivity Strategists Inc. (SPS) on April 15, 2026, at its Islamabad Campus, marking a significant step toward strengthening industry–academia collaboration. The MoU was signed by Mr. Muhammad Raza Ahmad Khan on behalf of CUI and Dr. Arshad Ali for SPS, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, along with senior university officials. The partnership will focus on innovation, internships, industry-oriented training, and applied research in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and Digital Transformation, including the establishment of an SPS–SpinnLabs Innovation & Internship Center to equip students with hands-on experience, real-world exposure, and enhanced employability, further reinforcing CUI’s commitment to bridging academia and industry for the global digital economy.

Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, T.I., Rector CUI, chaired 24th meeting of CUI Syndicate on 13 April 2026, where several important decisions were taken for the welfare and progress of the University community. A Special Relief Allowance (SRA) has been approved—15% for staff-grade employees and 7.5% for officer-grade employees fully funded from the CUI’s own resources. The Syndicate approved the appointments / promotions of 351 recommended cases of the 40th Selection Board wherein 249 positions are for faculty members (1 Lab Engineer 138 Lecturers and 110 Aps and 102 positions are for non-faculty. The Syndicate also recommended introduction of e-voting for upcoming elections to the CUI Senate and Syndicate to enhance transparency. It was also mutually agreed that an agenda item regarding the adoption of BPS scale will be prepared for consideration in the upcoming CUI Senate meeting. The Rector reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the institution while safeguarding the rights, welfare, and professional growth of all employees.
