More than 70,000 candidates appeared in the Junior Science Teacher (JST) recruitment test, with over 30,000 candidates securing 40 or more marks. The Sindh Government has announced 8,700 JST vacancies, while more than 20,000 candidates are still waiting for an employment opportunity. These vacancies have been announced after nearly five years, making this recruitment drive especially important for thousands of unemployed graduates.
For the last two months, candidates have been continuously raising their voices for their rights. They have held protests at the Taluka, District and Division levels, along with multiple mega protests in Karachi. These candidates are highly educated Science Graduates who have completed degrees in various science-related fields, yet many are still facing unemployment despite their qualifications. With unemployment already a major challenge for educated youth, candidates believe this opportunity should not be restricted by overly strict criteria.
The candidates are making a humble appeal to the Sindh Government to reconsider the existing 55-mark passing criteria and increase the number of JST vacancies. Thousands of highly educated young people are looking towards the government with hope for an opportunity to build their future, support their families and serve Sindh’s education sector. They urge the government to show compassion and provide maximum opportunities to deserving candidates.
