MUET at the 1st Mining Technical Conference 2026 ⛏️🇵🇰

The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) is pleased to share highlights from MUET’s participation in the 1st Mining Technical Conference 2026, organized by Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) at PC Hotel, Karachi, on 6 August 2026.

The landmark conference brought together industry leaders, global experts, policymakers, academia, researchers, and technical professionals to exchange knowledge, explore emerging opportunities, and strengthen collaboration for the advancement of Pakistan’s mining sector.

The event was honored by the presence of the Honourable Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, whose continued support for the mining sector is highly appreciated.

MUET’s participation was led by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Vice Chancellor, MUET, accompanied by the Chairman, faculty members, and students of the Department of Mining Engineering.

A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MUET and SECMC, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Vice Chancellor, MUET and Mr. Amir Iqbal, CEO, SECMC. This reflects MUET’s strong commitment, under the visionary leadership of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, MUET, in building sustainable industry–academia partnerships.

The MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening collaboration in mining education, research, innovation, technical capacity building, professional development, and knowledge exchange.

🌱 ''MUET Signs MoU to Empower Women in Renewable Energy''

Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) and LADIESFUND Energy (Private) Limited (LFE) for the implementation of the “Women in Renewable Energy – Hands-On Technical Training Program.”

The initiative will provide female engineering students with practical training in solar PV design and installation, energy efficiency, safety, leadership, and career development. It will also open pathways for internships, mentorship, networking, and professional opportunities.

MUET Faculty Achieves Global Recognition at ISC26, Germany The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), MUET, proudly congratulates Dr. Rabeea Jaffari, Assistant Professor, Department of Software Engineering, on being selected as a Women in HPC (WHPC) Travel Grant Fellow to attend the prestigious International Supercomputing Conference (ISC26) in Hamburg, Germany.
Dr. Rabeea represented Pakistan and MUET by presenting her research on AI-based catalytic performance prediction for sustainable CO₂ electrochemical reduction, showcasing MUET's research excellence on a global platform alongside leading international institutions.

The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, organized a strategic meeting to explore collaborative opportunities in Hydroponics, Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), Smart Agriculture, Precision Agriculture, and foreign investment-supported pilot projects in Sindh.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sheeraz Ahmed Memon, Director ORIC, and attended by distinguished guests Mr. Ehtasham Shahid, CEO, Worldwide Manpower Resources (WMR) and Former Director General, NADRA, and Ms. G. R. Rahman, Global Impact Investment Specialist.
The session was attended by Prof. Dr. Faisal Karim Shaikh (Chairman, Department of Telecommunication Engineering), Dr. Shoaib Shaikh (Department of Chemical Engineering), Dr. M. Safar Korai and Dr. Azizullah Channa (Institute of Environmental Engineering & Management), Dr. Uzma Syed and Dr. Naveed Qamrani (USPCAS-W Water Centre), along with representatives from the Sindh Irrigation & Drainage Authority (SIDA), including Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Ujjan and Engr. Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration through Site Visit & Internship Certificate Distribution Ceremony
Today, the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, in collaboration with Harbin Electric International, successfully organized a Site Visit and Internship Certificate Distribution Ceremony for the Internship Program 2026.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Sheeraz Ahmed Memon, Director ORIC, MUET, Mr. Arif A. Jalbani, Manager ORIC, Mr. Zanliming, Project Manager, Mr. Yan Bo, Deputy Project Manager, and Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Memon from Harbin Electric International.
The ceremony recognized the dedication and successful completion of internships by MUET students, who received their certificates with great enthusiasm in the presence of representatives from both MUET and Harbin Electric International.
During the site visit, Prof. Dr. Sheeraz Ahmed Memon interacted with the interns and project team, encouraging students to develop industry-oriented Final Year Projects (FYPs) that address real engineering challenges. He also emphasized maintaining close coordination with their industry mentors to enhance practical learning, innovation, and professional development.
