As part of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Day 2025 celebrations, the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, in collaboration with the IEEE IES MUET Student Branch Chapter and the IEEE Computer Society, Student Branch Chapter, MUET, successfully organized a series of engaging activities under the theme of Edge AI Innovation.
The celebrations comprised three key activities:
Workshop on Edge AI using Edge Impulse
Edge AI Project Competition – 21ES Batch Showcase
Closing Ceremony, Cake Cutting & Prize Distribution
Edge AI Project Competition Highlights
Under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Attiya Baqai and Engr. Noorulain Mushtaq, students from the 21ES Batch showcased 16 innovative Edge AI-based projects, demonstrating the integration of academic learning with practical, real-world applications.
Closing Ceremony Highlights:
The ceremony commenced with a recitation by Mr. Faraz (21ES) and was hosted by Ms. Mehwish Panhwar (21ES).
Guest speakers Mr. Abdul Samad (SSR, IEEE Karachi Section) and Mr. Mazhar Ali delivered an insightful session on the benefits of IEEE membership and professional engagement, motivating students to take an active role in the global IEEE community.
Prof. Dr. Attiya Baqai shared notable achievements of the Edge AI Lab, including student success in Erasmus Mundus Scholarships, participation in EPICS in IEEE and the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Arduino Contest 2025, as well as the announcement of the upcoming Edge AI Hackathon using Edge Impulse.
Guest speakers and dignitaries, including Dr. Sanam Narejo (Judge & Guest of Honor), Mr. Arif A. Jalbani (Director, ORIC MUET), and Engr. Noorulain Mushtaq, appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and the 21ES batch.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Hasmani (Dean FEECE), commended all participants for their creativity and dedication, encouraging both winners and non-winners to continue pursuing innovation and excellence.
Awards and Recognition:
Shields, certificates, and appreciation gifts were presented to coordinators, judges, ambassadors, and volunteers. Aamir Ali and Hasnain Raza received special recognition for their exceptional volunteer contributions.
The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, marking the successful culmination of IEEE IES Day 2025 and honoring the remarkable achievements of our Edge AI innovators.
