IEEE MUET Student Branch We are obliged to update you with all activities concerned with IEEE MUET Student Branch. We Arrange Student Internships every year for IEEE members.

The IEEE-MUET Student Branch at Mehran University Of Engineering And Technology Jamshoro, Sindh was founded in 2009. The Mehran University Of Engineering And Technology IEEE Student Branch is open to all students in the Electronics, Bio Medical, Electrical, Telecommunication, Computer System, Software Engineering Department. Our student branch concentrates on providing students with experience and

knowledge that cannot be obtained within a typical classroom setting. We do this by organizing tours of industries that manufacture electronic devices and electrical machines.

We are honored to share that IEEE MUET Student Branch received the following awards:

Best Technical Chapter Advisor Award – Dr. Umair Ahmed

Best SBC Technical Chapter Award – IEEE ComSoc MUET Student Branch

Best Student Volunteer Award – Aamir Ali (Ex-Chair, IEEE MUET SB)

Additionally, a prize amount of USD 200 (Runner-Up) was awarded to Mazhar Ali (Chair, IEEE MUET SB) and Aashir Ali for the IEEE Student Ethics Competition, held during IEEE PSYWSC 2025 at DHA Suffa University, Karachi.

We are pleased to announce that Mazhar Ali (3rd-Year Electronic Engineering, Chair — IEEE MUET Student Branch) and Aashir Ali (3rd-Year Telecommunications Engineering, Departmental Ambassador — TL) represented Mehran University of Engineering & Technology at the 2025 IEEE PSYWSC Congress, hosted at DHA Suffa University — and secured the Runner-Up position in the Ethics Competition, receiving a cash award of USD 200.

We are also delighted to share that Deen Muhammad (4th-Year Electronic Engineering) was honored with the Best Student Ambassador Award for IEEE PSYWSC 2025, recognizing his outstanding leadership and contributions.

The MUET delegation comprised 21 student participants who actively engaged in congress activities, technical discussions, and leadership networking sessions. The team competed alongside distinguished institutions including UET Lahore, SSUET Karachi, DHA Suffa University, MUET, and others — demonstrating strong ethical reasoning, professionalism, and collaborative excellence.

We are privileged by the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry (IEEE Leader), Dr. Umair Ahmed — Chair, IEEE ComSoc Karachi Chapter, and Dr. Mahesh Kumar — Chair, IEEE PELS Karachi Chapter, whose guidance and leadership significantly enriched the delegation’s learning experience.

The branch further acknowledges the support of Dr. Rabeea Jaffri Syed (Advisor, IEEE WIE MUET SB Affinity Group) and the valuable supervision of Engr. Parkash Lohana throughout the competition journey.

Event Successfully Concluded | IEEE MUET SB

The IEEE MUET Student Branch and IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) MUET Student Branch Chapter successfully concluded the technical session titled “Engineering Reality with Light: The Role of Photonics in Digital Twins.”

The session was delivered by Dr. Abi Waqas, who shared insightful perspectives on the role of photonics in enabling digital twin technologies and their applications in modern engineering systems.

As a token of appreciation, shields of appreciation were presented to the speaker by Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shahkar Chowdry (Advisor MUET) and Dr. Umair Ahmed (Chair, IEEE ComSoc Karachi Chapter & Advisor, IEEE ComSoc MUET Student Branch Chapter) in recognition of his valuable contribution.

As part of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Day 2025 celebrations, the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, in collaboration with the IEEE IES MUET Student Branch Chapter and the IEEE Computer Society, Student Branch Chapter, MUET, successfully organized a series of engaging activities under the theme of Edge AI Innovation.

The celebrations comprised three key activities:

Closing Ceremony, Cake Cutting & Prize Distribution

Edge AI Project Competition Highlights

Under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Attiya Baqai and Engr. Noorulain Mushtaq, students from the 21ES Batch showcased 16 innovative Edge AI-based projects, demonstrating the integration of academic learning with practical, real-world applications.

Closing Ceremony Highlights:

The ceremony commenced with a recitation by Mr. Faraz (21ES) and was hosted by Ms. Mehwish Panhwar (21ES).

Guest speakers Mr. Abdul Samad (SSR, IEEE Karachi Section) and Mr. Mazhar Ali delivered an insightful session on the benefits of IEEE membership and professional engagement, motivating students to take an active role in the global IEEE community.

Prof. Dr. Attiya Baqai shared notable achievements of the Edge AI Lab, including student success in Erasmus Mundus Scholarships, participation in EPICS in IEEE and the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Arduino Contest 2025, as well as the announcement of the upcoming Edge AI Hackathon using Edge Impulse.

Guest speakers and dignitaries, including Dr. Sanam Narejo (Judge & Guest of Honor), Mr. Arif A. Jalbani (Director, ORIC MUET), and Engr. Noorulain Mushtaq, appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and the 21ES batch.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Hasmani (Dean FEECE), commended all participants for their creativity and dedication, encouraging both winners and non-winners to continue pursuing innovation and excellence.

Awards and Recognition:
Shields, certificates, and appreciation gifts were presented to coordinators, judges, ambassadors, and volunteers. Aamir Ali and Hasnain Raza received special recognition for their exceptional volunteer contributions.

The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, marking the successful culmination of IEEE IES Day 2025 and honoring the remarkable achievements of our Edge AI innovators.
