A Plantation Drive was successfully organized by the Rotary Club Karachi Greenways in collaboration with Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, University of Karachi on 23rd April 2026. A large number of students attended and actively participated in the plantation activity, reflecting their commitment to environmental sustainability. Prof. Dr. Abida Perveen, Director of Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, also took part in the drive and planted saplings, emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly initiatives. Members of the Rotary Club Karachi Greenways efficiently conducted the plantation drive, ensuring its smooth ex*****on. The event concluded with a strong message of collective responsibility towards building a greener and more sustainable Karachi.

A comprehensive workshop titled “Building a Peaceful and Inclusive Pakistan: A Seerah-Inspired Strategy” was organized for university students on Friday, 13 February 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Conference Hall, Sheikh Zaid Islamic Centre (SZIC). The session featured Dr. Riaz Ahmad Saeed, HoD, Islamic Thought and Culture, NUML Islamabad, as the guest speaker, while it was chaired by Prof. Dr. Abida Perveen, Director, Sheikh Zaid Islamic Centre, University of Karachi. The workshop offered insightful discussions on peacebuilding, inclusivity, and ethical leadership grounded in Seerah-based principles, encouraging students to reflect on their role in fostering a harmonious society.

Sheikh Zayed Islamic Center (SZIC), University of Karachi, in collaboration with Focus Vision IT Hub, celebrated Sindh Culture Day with great enthusiasm, showcasing the vibrant traditions, colors, and rich heritage of Sindh. The event brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests in a warm cultural atmosphere that reflected unity and pride. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Abida Parveen, Director SZIC, and with the support of Focus Group Chairman and CEO of Focus Vision IT Hub, Asad Ul Haq, the celebration featured a cake-cutting ceremony, cultural performances, and meaningful speeches highlighting Sindh’s history, identity, and cultural significance. Honoured guests, including Junaid Ahmed Khan, Chairman All Pakistan Media Alliance, were acknowledged for their valuable presence and contributions. The program concluded with the distribution of traditional Ajrak and Topi, symbolizing respect and the deep-rooted cultural spirit of Sindh.

A farewell dinner was organized by the BS Islamic Banking & Finance pass-out students (1st Batch) to honor their respected teachers. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Abida Perveen, whose participation added great value to the evening. Faculty members and professors also attended, making the gathering more meaningful. Students expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the guidance and support they received throughout their academic journey. The dinner concluded with warm wishes, reflections, and heartfelt moments shared between students and teachers.

The Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre (SZIC), University of Karachi proudly celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day on 13th August with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The event drew a large gathering of students, faculty members, officers, and employees, all united in the spirit of the occasion.

The celebration began with a flag-hoisting ceremony, led by Prof. Dr. Abida Perveen, Director SZIC, in the presence of Dr. Agha Bacha (Associate Professor), Mr. Adnan, Dr. Sajjad, Ms. Sana, and other distinguished members of the institute.

Following the national anthem, a cake-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the day. To symbolize the Centre’s commitment to both national pride and environmental stewardship, two plants were planted by the Director SZIC as part of the festivities.

The program concluded with warm Independence Day greetings, group photographs, and renewed pledges of unity, patriotism, and dedication to the progress of Pakistan.
