Three competitions:
1. Gauntlet: Markstrat management simulation is conducted by Dr. Jamshed Khan. Markstrat is used by more than 500 academic institutions, including 8 of the top 10 international business schools and 25 of the top 30 in the US. Teams of 4-6 members joust through rounds of periodic gratification and ultimately the number crunching and puzzle solving geniuses of the competition ar
e crowned. Players are required to make a number of decisions related to Marketing, Finance and Research and Development in order to overcome competitive forces.
2. Perspicacia: Business Case Analysis competition tests the analytical and presentation skills of the participants. Students apply their knowledge and skills to a real-life, pulsating and challenging business case. The competition will be conducted in 2 rounds in which teams comprising of 3 to 5 members from universities all over Pakistan will compete. It will be conducted in a typical LUMS MBA CASE STUDY CLASS style so as to give the students a flavor of how case studies are solved and approached in LUMS MBA. The judges will be industry leaders from several areas who will be judging the participants on a pre-defined criterion.
3. Enspire: Global Supply Chain Management Simulation is conducted by Dr. Naiman Jalil to test a number of key principles of supply chain management. The game is played by teams of 2-3 members, often in heated competition, and takes four hours to complete. A debriefing session of roughly 1 hour typically follows to review the results of each team and discuss the lessons involved. In this Harvard simulation, teams are in charge of the product introduction of two models of mobile phones. Team members are responsible for designing the product, forecasting its demand, determining its production schedule and keeping the shareholders happy. In addition to the competitions, LUMS Synergies also entails the following evening events:
• Corporate Dinner (of participants with sponsors, representatives from industry, alumni & faculty @ LUMS)
• Social Night / Concert (primarily for recreation and networking among students)
• Communication Workshop
