The students of the Department of Political Science had an enriching and inspiring visit to the Punjab Assembly, where they actively participated in the “Speaker Aur Awam” program, which is an impactful initiative of the incumbent speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Mr. Malik Ahmad Khan.
The interactive session with the honorable speaker provided our students with a valuable opportunity to understand the legislative process, get educated about the functioning of provincial governance, and engage directly with democratic institutions. This initiative also provided students with an opportunity to interact with parliamentary representatives, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their perspectives on contemporary political issues.
This experiential learning will surely strengthen their understanding of constitutional processes, public policy formulation, and the importance of citizen participation in democracy. It was truly inspiring to see our young scholars engaging confidently in meaningful dialogue within one of Pakistan’s most significant legislative forums.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the administration of the Punjab Assembly for facilitating this insightful visit and for encouraging youth engagement in democratic processes.

The department and the faculty are extremely proud of their girl students who were runners-up in cricket in the ongoing inter-departmental sports. We are thankful to the honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry who as a token of appreciation awarded cash prizes to the winning teams. Such gestures go a long way in materializing the cherished goal of strengthening female sports and encouraging more and more girls to take up sports. The department is also thankful to the Directorate of Sports for their coordination and help during the interdepartmental sports.

A delegation of the department comprising of the students of BS-Year 4 and MPhil participated in the seminar titled "Emerging Technologies and Future of Warfare at the Pakistan Navy War College. The students were greatly benefited from the experience as they were educated about the emerging technologies and changing dynamics of naval warfare with special reference to the preparedness of Pakistan Navy.
The student delegates appreciated the seminar and the speakers. They were also of the opinion that more such seminars should be organized so that more awareness and understanding can be created amongst the academia and the youth of the country. The department will also continue to provide such opportunities to its students and faculty.

The faculty, students and the alumni of the department are elated to know and share with great pride that the department chair, Prof. Dr. Fouzia Ghani, has been awarded by the Government of People’s Republic of China with the Friendship Award 2025. The award was presented to her by the Honorable Chinese Consul General, Zhao Shiren in a ceremony held at the Governor House, Lahore. This award also adds to the glory of our already illustrious and historical institution.
Under the stewardship of Prof. Fouzia, the department initiated the Chinese Consul General Scholarship (CCGS) in 2024 which continued in the year 2025 as well. Interaction and association with the Chinese intelegencia have been increased. New pathways of collaboration and academic exchange are being explored.
The faculty, students, and alumni would also like to thank the Government of People’s Republic of China for the acknowledgement and His Excellency Zhao Shiren for his remarkable services in fostering and strengthening the relations of the two friendly countries.

The students of BS and MPhil Political Science represented the department in the recently held international conference at the Lahore School of Economics. The conference provided the participating students with the opportunity to directly engage with the leading minds of the country and share their questions with them. The delegates of the department were appreciated for their conduct, inquisitiveness and acumen.
The department looks forward to providing more such opportunities to its students and help them polish their personalities and academic abilities.

The department and its students are elated to announce that in results of PMS-14 that have been recently published - 04 of its students have been selected by the Punjab Public Service Commission. Mr. Anas Hameed Mughal (BS Political Science Session 2016-2020), Mr. Rizwan Dogar (BS Political Science 2017-2021), Mr. Raja Fakhar e Haider (BS Political Science Session 2018-2022) and Mr. Muhammad Ahmad Faraz (BS Political Science Session 2019-2023) have been recommended by the PPSC for appointment to the post of Provincial Management Service in the Services and General Administrative Department.
The faculty and students extend their heartfelt appreciation to the above alumni and wish them well in their new phase of life. We believe they will continue to serve as a roll model for our students and serve our province and our country to the best of their abilities.

The Department of Political Science is pleased to share that in collaboration with the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Lahore, the department has awarded Need-based and Merit-based scholarships to its students. The Scholarships titled the Chinese Consul General Scholarship (CCGS) were first awarded last year.
It is believed that these scholarships will go a long way in facilitating and encouraging the students of the Department of Political Science to realize their dreams and potential. The department would also like to thank the Chinese Consul General, His Excellency Zhao Shiren for his constant support and patronage. It is pertinent to note that without his unwavering support and continuous interest this would have never been possible.
All involved are certain that these scholarships will further strengthen our all-weather friendship with the People's Republic of China and the people-to-people ties between the two friendly countries will also get stronger.

Department of Political Science recently hosted a session on 23rd October 2025, with eminent scholars from Iran. Prof. Dr. Fauzia Ghani, Chairperson, faculty members Mr Naseer Ahmad Taib and Mr Aizzan Malik were present to engage with the guests and discuss potential academic collaborations.

Distinguished professors, including Dr. Asghar Masoodi and Dr. Ahmad Rahdar, shared insights on contemporary political thought, global issues, and alternative perspectives in political science, fostering a meaningful exchange of ideas.

Dr Ahmad Raza Khan, In-charge of the Department of International Relations, also graced the occasion, appreciating the spirit of academic dialogue and international engagement. The session concluded on a note of mutual respect and goodwill, reflecting the shared commitment to continued scholarly interaction.
