The Department of Software Engineering 7th semester students at the University of Malakand received laptops on (December 29, 2025) under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme Phase-IV 2025.

The ceremony was attended by Semester Coordinator Engr. Shaukat Ali, Engr. Dr. Khalil Ullah, Focal Person Laptop Scheme Engr. Muhammad Bilal along with members of the IEEE Student Branch Cabinet of the University of Malakand.

The Department of Software Engineering held its 2nd Industry Advisory Board (IAB) meeting on 9th December 2025 to strengthen academia–industry linkages, align the curriculum with market needs, and gather expert input for enhancing student learning, employability, and professional readiness. The meeting, conducted in a hybrid format, was chaired by Prof. Dr. Jamil Ahmad (Dean, FCSE) and attended by Mr. Maqsood Mazhar (Manager ORIC) along with faculty members Engr. Dr. Akhtar Badshah (HoD, DSE), Engr. Dr. Khalil Ullah, Engr. Dr. Muhammad Waqas, Engr. Shaukat Ali and Engr. Jehangir M. Khan. The Department extends its sincere gratitude to the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rashid Ahmad, for his continuous support and guidance, and acknowledges the collective efforts of faculty in strengthening OBE implementation, PEC accreditation processes, and the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) framework.

Four distinguished industry experts participated in the meeting and shared valuable insights: Engr. Waheed Khan (KP Public Service Commission), Engr. Muhammad Iqbal (Founder & CEO, Welldux), Engr. Sadeeq Ullah (Principal Software Engineer, TEO International), and Engr. Fazal Mola Jan (CTO, Code Crush Technologies). Their recommendations on curriculum enhancement, emerging technologies, and industry expectations provided meaningful guidance for bridging the gap between academia and industry.

The Department extends heartfelt thanks to all participants for their valuable contributions and looks forward to continued collaboration for the advancement of students, the department, and the broader academic–industry ecosystem.

We are delighted to announce that Department of Software Engineering has successfully secured accreditation from the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for the BS Software Engineering degree program.

A special thanks to the Honorable Vice Chancellor, UoM Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad and administration for their invaluable support and guidance throughout this accreditation process.

The credit also goes to the young, energetic, and dedicated team of Software Engineering, led by Dr. Khalil Ullah, In-charge of the Department of Software Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Sultan Alam Kakakhail, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Their tireless efforts, expertise, and leadership have been instrumental in achieving this milestone.
