The Department of Computer Science, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, successfully organized the “SmogNet Datathon 2026” in collaboration with Code for Pakistan and Bircube Technologies.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman, Chairman, Department of Computer Science, who highlighted the importance of innovation, data science, and technology-driven solutions for real-world environmental challenges.
Keynote remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and emphasized the role of youth, research, and emerging technologies in addressing societal and environmental issues.
A special address was delivered by Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Senior Manager & CFP Representative, who encouraged students to use data-driven approaches and innovation for civic engagement and environmental problem-solving.
In his speech, Mr. Asad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bircube Technologies, motivated participants to leverage technology and data science for impactful innovation and community-driven solutions.
The event brought together 115 students forming 23 teams from different universities, providing a strong platform for applied data science, collaboration, innovation, and civic engagement focused on real-world smog-related challenges.
