Seminar on “The Philosophy of Peace: Beyond the Absence of War”
The Department of Philosophy & Interdisciplinary Studies, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, organized a seminar titled “The Philosophy of Peace: Beyond the Absence of War” on 24 February 2026.
The session was presided over by Professor Dr. Lubna Kanwal. The Department was privileged to host Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Malik, Faculty Member at the National Defence University, Islamabad, as the Guest Speaker.
In his address, Mr. Malik presented a rigorous philosophical analysis of peace, examining its ethical, political, and conceptual foundations. The lecture emphasized the understanding of peace not merely as the absence of war, but as a positive and normative condition grounded in justice, institutional responsibility, and moral order.
The seminar concluded with a structured question-and-answer session, enabling constructive academic engagement between faculty members and students.
