Here are the details of my journey from Harbin to Multan via train/bus.
1st route was Harbin to Xi'an:
Ticket price: 496.5 CNY
Train type: hard sleeper (lower)
Departure: 7:37 pm, 5/6/23
Arrival: 6:00 am, 7/6/23
Time: 36 Hours approx.
2nd route was Xi'an to Kashgar:
Ticket price: 649 CNY
Train type: hard sleeper (lower)
Departure: 10:52 pm, 7/6/23
Arrival: 1:30 pm, 9/6/23
Time: 36 Hours approx.
We spent two days in Kashgar because border activity was suspended on Saturday and Sunday.
Hotel reservation in Kashgar:
After reaching to Kashgar, you can take taxi or bus to go to Sahar or Seman Hotel,where foreigners can easily reserve rooms.
Don't reserve rooms in hotels where foreigners are not allowed. Seher hotel is cheaper, will charge 80 CNY per day.
Kashgar to Tashkurgan:
You can get mini van, 4*4 or bus for Tashkurgan at this place. You need to come before 9 am to get bus ticket. 85 CNY for Bus, 120 CNY for Mini van or 4*4. We paid 100 CNY each for mini van. You can also talk to driver.
For Chinese Govt. Bus Ticket Purchasing, You need to be at ticket center before 9 am Beijing time, otherwise you may miss your bus. Come early and get first in line. Only cash is acceptable. No payment from WeChat or Alipay. They will charge 225 CNY from Tashkurgan to Sust.
At Sust, will be two options. 1) Night stay at Sust/Gilgit and go to Rwl/Isl in morning by FM, coaster or Taxi through Babusar Top route. 2) Go to Rwl/Isl on car, coaster w/o staying for night through Kohistan route. Babusar route is safe as dam construction on Kohistan route.
We went to Gilgit via Hunza on High roof. It costs us 1200 PKR each. We reached at Gilgit station in 3.5 hours. It was the best available option to go to Gilgit w/o wasting time but not that convenient. Enjoyed this journey as well.
At Gilgit, rented two cars for Rwl.p, 16k PKR each. Travelled throughout the night, Stopped for Dinner and Bfast. We went through Kohistan route, Bcoz Babusar top route was closed. Somehow, 12 to 15 hours long route. left Gilgit at 10pm, 12/6/23 and reached Rwlp at 1 pm, 13/6/23.
At Faisal Movers, Faizabad terminal, Purchased the ticket for Multan in 2790 PKR and reached Multan at 10 pm, 13/6/23.
Total Cost:
Harbin to Xi'an: 496 CNY
Xi'an to Kashgar: 649 CNY
2D stay in Kashgar: 80 CNY
Kashgar to Tashkurgan: 100 CNY
1D stay in Tashkurgan: 60 CNY
Tashkurgan to Sust: 225 CNY
Forest Charges: 300 PKR
Sust to Gilgit: 1200 PKR
Gilgit to Pindi: 5500 PKR
Pindi to Multan: 2790 PKR
