CONDemnation
The District Bar Association, Sukkur expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation over the highly inappropriate and unprofessional conduct of a police official who allegedly used abusive and degrading language against a young Sindhi boy/person celebrating Sindhi Topi Ajrak Cultural Day.
Such behaviour by any police officer is not only unethical and immoral but also a clear misuse of authority, which severely undermines public trust in law-enforcement institutions. Using abusive language, harassment, intimidation, or degrading treatment of citizensespecially the youth is a punishable offence and cannot be tolerated in any civilized society.
The District Bar Association Sukkur considers this act a grave violation of fundamental rights, professional discipline, and public dignity.
Furthermore, it has been reported that several individuals celebrating Sindhi Cultural Day, wearing traditional Sindhi Topi and Ajrak, were subjected to unlawful physical assault and illegaly arrested by certain police personnels in Karachi. Such actions constitute a blatant violation of constitutional rights and represent an unacceptable and illegal step by the concerned police officials.
Therefore, the District Bar Association Sukkur demands the following from the Inspector General of Sindh Police:
1. Immediate suspension of the concerned police official(s).
2. A transparent, impartial, and time-bound inquiry into the entire incident.
3. Strict departmental action, including dismissal from service, if the allegations are proven.
4. Immediate release of all citizens unlawfully arrested while celebrating Sindhi Cultural Day.
5. Necessary measures to ensure that no citizen celebrating cultural traditions is harassed, humiliated, or mistreated in the future.
The Sindhi Topi and Ajrak symbolize peace, respect, and centuries-old cultural heritage. Any attempt to insult, target, or persecute individuals celebrating this day is unacceptable and stands strongly condemned by the District Bar Association Sukkur.
