Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq (T.I) and Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat visited the National Skills University Islamabad, Sarmad Tanveer Campus (Muridke), on February 24, 2026. Professor Emeritus Dr. Robina Farooq interacted with students and received a warm welcome. She was deeply impressed by the students’ activities and the skills-based training being provided at NSU (STC) Muridke.
Prof. Robina and Prof. Saleem also visited the under-construction campus of NSU, which is expected to be completed by the end of May 2026. The newly constructed campus will feature spacious infrastructure designed to host bachelor’s degree programs in accordance with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) guidelines.
The campus intends to launch BS Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), BS Computer Science (CS), and BS Information Engineering Technology (IET) programs, with classes scheduled to begin in Fall 2026.

National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad’s Sarmad Tanveer Campus (STC), Muridke, established in 2022 and inaugurated in January 2023, has emerged as a leading centre for technical and vocational education in Punjab. Located opposite Al‑Hadi School near Punjab Bank GT Road Muridke, the campus delivers hands‑on, competency‑based short courses that directly address labour‑market needs both locally and internationally.

Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar and the coordination of Dr. Bilawal Rehman, STC Muridke has certified more than 550 graduates across a portfolio of trades including Mobile Phone Repairing, E‑Commerce, Building Electrician, Fashion Design and Dress Making, Beautician, Graphic Design and Video Editing, Digital Marketing and Search Engine Optimization, and General Electrician. These programs combine practical workshop training, applied projects, and soft‑skills development to prepare students for employment and entrepreneurship.

Today, the campus successfully hosted a NAVTTC registration visit, attended by Dr. Bilawal Rehman, Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Ghazi, Mr. Hamza Rasheed, Mr. Amjad Ali Abbasi and other staff members. During the visit, it was announced that STC Muridke will soon relocate to a newly constructed 12‑acre campus with a covered area of 25,000 sq ft, contracted at a cost of PKR 386 million. The new facility will feature spacious classrooms and advanced laboratories, further strengthening NSU’s capacity to deliver world‑class skills education.

The existing campus remains well equipped with modern training resources and highly qualified trainers, reflecting the vision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar and the continued efforts of the entire NSU team. The expansion underscores NSU’s commitment to empowering youth, fostering socio‑economic development, and positioning Pakistan’s workforce for success in both local and global markets.

The National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad is entering a new era thanks to a transformative partnership with Shandong Xinxu International Corporation! This collaboration marks a significant leap forward for higher education and applied skills development in Pakistan.
Shandong Xinxu International is investing a substantial $30 million to upgrade NSU's infrastructure, labs, workshops, and training ecosystems to meet international standards. But that's not all! They're also providing land and $10 million to establish a brand-new NSU campus in Karachi, Pakistan's economic hub.
This partnership will revolutionize NSU's curricula, incorporating applied, competency-based education models inspired by China’s advanced vocational system, particularly the Zibo Polytechnic framework. Key areas of focus include:

Pakistani youth will benefit immensely from internships, apprenticeships, and structured employment opportunities linked to domestic industries, CPEC Phase-II projects, and international labor markets. This will boost employability both at home and abroad!
A Joint Steering Committee will oversee the implementation, with Xinxu holding a strategic interest to ensure the success of this ambitious project. The Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training will provide crucial regulatory support.
As Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of NSU, stated, this initiative reflects NSU’s core mission of transforming skills into national assets and preparing youth as globally competitive professionals.
Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, highlighted that this agreement is unique in its integration of capital investment, infrastructure development, curriculum reform, faculty capacity building, and new campus creation within a single public-sector framework.
This isn't just a memorandum; it's a practical roadmap for sustainable skills-led development in Pakistan!

It was an honor to welcome Mr. Muhammad Kamran Khan—Member, Board of Governors, Advisor to the Prime Minister on the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, and CEO of KBM Group (UK)—to the NSU Sarmad Tanveer Campus Muridke.
The visit focused on developing practical pathways for skill-based training and job placement, with the aim of preparing graduates to compete confidently in the international job market. Discussions emphasized strengthening the linkage between academia and industry, aligning student competencies with global workforce demands, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for Pakistani youth.
We sincerely thank Mr. Kamran Khan for his visit and engagement. We are optimistic that this interaction will lead to meaningful collaborations and broadened opportunities for Pakistani students, both locally and abroad.
