3-day Entrepreneurship Gala & Book Fair kick off at UO
A 3-day Entrepreneurship Gala combined with a Book Fair kicked off at the University of Okara (UO) with great fervor and massive participation by the students. The event is being organized by the Directorate of ORIC, Green Youth Movement and Department of Urdu.
More than 70 groups of students from different departments have set up stalls showcasing their unique business ideas while 15 publishers are partaking in the Book Fair.
The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Sajjad Mubin. Dr Ghulam Mustafa, Chairperson of the Department of Managements Sciences and Director ORIC, Dr Saqlain Haider, Lecturer in Urdu, and Dr Saira Sattar from Department of Food Science & Technology, accompanied him.
The VC visited all the kiosks and interacted with the students about their respective business ideas. He appreciated the diversity and innovation of the projects that ranged from organic edibles and cosmetics to art works and from medical units to food points.
The Book Fair featured renowned publishers such as Saanj Publications, Collage, National Book Foundation and Kitabi Dunya.
According to the university spokesperson, the faculty and students of the university as well as people from the local communities are showing keen interest in the Book Fair.
Speaking to the media at this eve, Prof Mubin told, “The purpose behind holding this event is to revive the book reading culture among the youth and connect the students with books. Moreover, this is a platform to encourage the students to translate their start-up ideas into reality and market them. This will perk up the culture of entrepreneurship in the region.”
