A new grading system has been introduced in Pakistan to pass exams.
The Ministry of Education has issued a declaration regarding the new grading policy according to which the results of the examinations will now be given through grades instead of marks.
The announcement said that the grading system will be implemented from the academic year of 2024 and in the first phase, the grading system will be applied to classes 9 and 11. Instead of marks, grade point average or CGPA will be counted.
It is stated in the announcement that the Interboard Committee of Chairman has introduced grading system at secondary and higher secondary level, instead of seven points grading system, now there will be 10 points grading system, grades include A plus plus, A plus, A, B plus plus, B plus and B. Grades will include C, D, E, and U grades.
Decision to eliminate positions in matric and inter exams in Sindh
The minimum passing marks in the examinations have been increased from 33% to 40%.
According to the declaration, only the grading system will work in colleges and universities from the year 2025. Federation, Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan have implemented the new grading policy.
