The Pakistan Study Centre, University of Peshawar, hosted a farewell lunch in honour of the former Vice Chancellor and Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof. Dr. M. Naeem Qazi. On the occasion, the Director of the Centre, Prof. Dr. Shahbaz Khan, paid rich tributes to Qazi sb for his tireless and selfless services toward the academic uplift of the University of Peshawar and the welfare of its faculty members. He particularly acknowledged his keen interest in addressing the issues faced by various Centres, especially the Pakistan Study Centre. At the end of the event, the faculty members and staff of the Centre presented him with a bouquet of flowers as a token of respect and appreciation.

Meeting between staff of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (IV RAN) and Muhammad Iqbal, expert from the University of Peshawar’s Pakistan Study Centre
On April 1, 2026, the Pakistan Section of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies (IV RAN) hosted a meeting with Muhammad Iqbal, an expert from the Pakistan Study Centre at the University of Peshawar.
As part of the InteRussia fellowship program for young foreign Orientalists at IV RAN, researchers N.A. Zamaraeva, I.N. Serenko, U.V. Okimbekov, S. Poya, and O.E. Evseenko met with Mr. Iqbal, who is a lecturer at the University of Peshawar and the managing editor of the journal Pakistan.
The meeting was conducted in a multilingual format, using Pashto, English, and Russian. The parties exchanged views on Pakistan's domestic political and socio-economic situation, as well as its foreign policy, including Russia-Pakistan relations amidst a complex regional and global environment. They also discussed prospects for multifaceted cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, specifically focusing on expanding academic ties to further strengthen bilateral interstate relations.

گورنر خیبرپختونخوا فیصل کریم کنڈی سے پشاور یونیورسٹی ٹیچرز ایسوسی ایشن (پیوٹا) کے صدر ذاکر اللہ جان کی قیادت میں نمائندہ وفد نے منگل کے روز گورنر ہاوس پشاور میں ملاقات کی،
وفد میں ڈاکٹر محمد فاروق، ڈاکٹر لیاقت علی, پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شہباز خان، ڈائریکٹر پاکستان سٹڈی سنٹر اور ڈاکٹر نعیم بٹ سمیت دیگر شامل تھے۔ملاقات میں جامعہ پشاور اور بالخصوص یونیورسٹی میں قائم ریسرچ سنٹرز کو درپیش سنگین مالی اور انتظامی مسائل پر تفصیلی گفتگو کی گئی۔
وفد نے گورنر کو بتایا کہ جامعہ پشاورمیں موجود 5 ریسرچ سنٹرز وفاقی حکومت کے زیر نگرانی ہیں اوران ریسرچ سنٹرز کے ملازمین کو تنخواہوں اورپنشنز سمیت دیگر مسائل کا بھی سامناہے۔وفد نے کہاکہ سرکاری جامعات کو مسلسل نظرانداز کیے جانے کے باعث تعلیمی و تحقیقی سرگرمیاں شدید متاثر ہو رہی ہیں۔انہوں نے گورنرسے ریسرچ سنٹرز کو درپیش مالی مسائل کا معاملہ وفاقی حکومت، ہائیر ایجوکیشن کمیشن اور وزارت خزانہ کے سامنے رکھنے اورحل کرنے کی درخواست کی۔
گورنر نے اس موقع پر وفد کواپنی جانب سے مکمل تعاون کی یقین دہانی کراتے ہوئے کہا کہ وہ اس معاملے کو متعلقہ حکام کے سامنے اٹھائیں گے۔

Weekly Event – Pakistan Studies Students Society

Our weekly gathering began with a soulful Tilawat-e-Quran, setting a calm and respectful tone.
We continued with a thoughtful speech on “Society Makes Man or Man Makes Society,” encouraging students to reflect on social responsibility.
Creative expression followed through poetry, adding depth and emotion to the session.
The event wrapped up with an energetic debate on Nationalization in Pakistan, where students showcased critical thinking and confident speaking.
A meaningful weekly session combining knowledge, expression, and intellectual growth.

Proud Moment for University of Peshawar!
The University of Peshawar has been declared Best Team across Pakistan, while Sanaullah Shabir from the Criminology Department proudly won the Best Influencer Award, representing both the University and its vibrant student societies with excellence.

Our team truly rocked the stage and secured 1st position , showcasing dedication, leadership, and the spirit of UoP.

The award and cash prize cheque were graciously presented by Federal Minister for Planning & Development, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal.

A special moment of pride for Deputy Director Dr. Muhammad Ibrar, whose outstanding students once again proved their talent at the national level.

Today, the University of Peshawar celebrates excellence and Sanaullah stands as a true hero of this achievement.
