I hope you are in good health. I wish to bring your kind attention to a matter of serious concern regarding the academic and ethical standards of certain teachers in the university. The current teaching practices are significantly below acceptable standards. Many teachers merely read the slides hurriedly without ensuring students’ understanding or engagement. This poor method of teaching becomes even more problematic when compared with the extremely difficult examination papers they prepare. There is a clear imbalance between the level of teaching in the classroom and the difficulty of the exams, which puts students at an unfair disadvantage.
In addition, some teachers copy and compile challenging exam questions from unrelated or advanced sources without covering the required concepts during lectures. This mismatch between teaching quality and examination standards not only discourages students but also affects their academic performance and interest in studies.
Equally concerning is the moral and professional conduct displayed by some faculty members. Instead of maintaining proper academic boundaries, they engage in irrelevant discussions and attempt to involve themselves in students’ personal matters (calling and texting female students repeatedly, we have proof in screenshots, will be posted if this continues). Such behaviour creates an uncomfortable environment and damages the trust students should have in their teachers.
I respectfully request the Vice Chancellor to take immediate notice of these issues. Ensuring quality education requires strict accountability mechanisms for both students and teachers. The administration must address the imbalance between classroom teaching and exam difficulty levels, and enforce standards that guarantee transparency, fairness, and academic integrity.
Furthermore, the misuse of authority by certain teachers has created an atmosphere of fear. Students hesitate to report misconduct because they lack solid evidence or because they fear retaliation if their concerns are dismissed. This silence enables unethical behaviour to continue.
To resolve these issues effectively, I strongly suggest the establishment of an independent committee dedicated to monitoring teachers’ professional and ethical conduct. This body should ensure complete confidentiality for student complaints and must be empowered to take timely and impartial action.
I hope the administration will take this matter seriously and work towards establishing a fair, respectful, and academically sound environment for all students.
