FJWU Empowers Students with Career Branding Skills: Mastering the Art of Impactful CVs & Resumes

Fatima Jinnah Women University in collaboration with the Women Development Department to enhance students' career development and personal branding. The activity focused on distinguishing between a resume a quick summary of skills and education for specific positions and a Curriculum Vitae (CV), which is a comprehensive statement of academic, teaching, and research backgrounds.

The workshop emphasized the critical importance of a powerful summary, noting that employers typically review a resume in eight seconds or less. To capture attention, attendees were encouraged to use strong action verbs tailored to categories like research, leadership, and communication to highlight their accomplishments. Key takeaways included the necessity of communicating experience levels clearly in the opening sentence and identifying "big picture" facts that help an applicant stand out from the competition. The session concluded by teaching students how to synthesize these elements into a cohesive statement that effectively showcases their professional value.
