Sukkur IBA University successfully organized WordPress Campus Connect (WPCC), an engaging event focused on modern web technologies, innovation, and open-source development.

The event featured a hands-on WordPress Web Development Workshop, along with insightful sessions on:

🔹 Benefits of Open-Source Contributions

Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of equipping students with practical, industry-relevant knowledge and skills.

The event also featured the presence of Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Saeed Ahmed Khan Abro, and Chairman, Department of Computer Systems Engineering, Dr. Abdul Sattar Chan.

The initiative was held with the support and encouragement of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, whose continued emphasis on learning, innovation, and industry exposure provides opportunities for students to engage with emerging technologies and industry practices.

The event was organized and led by Engr. Umair Ayaz Kamangar, Program Coordinator, Department of Computer Systems Engineering, who brought together the sessions and activities as part of the university’s efforts to provide students with practical learning opportunities.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments of Sukkur IBA University, Main Campus, as well as students from other campuses, creating an engaging and collaborative learning environment.

The Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Sukkur IBA University successfully convened its 4th Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) Meeting in September 2026, bringing together distinguished academic and industry professionals to strengthen the connection between engineering education and the evolving needs of industry.

The meeting was convened by Engr. Dr. Saeed A. Khan Abro, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Sukkur IBA University, providing an important platform for meaningful discussions on curriculum transformation, industry relevance, emerging technologies, and the future of engineering education.

A key focus of the meeting was Industrial Revolution 5.0, with discussions centered on preparing future-ready graduates equipped with Artificial Intelligence, digital competencies, future skills, innovation, entrepreneurship, human-centered technologies, and problem-solving capabilities.

The Board also reviewed the alignment and future development of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering curricula, with emphasis on AI & Machine Learning, Robotics & Automation, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Digital Transformation, Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and Human-AI Collaboration.

The valuable insights and recommendations of the IAB members will contribute toward strengthening academic programs, enhancing industry-academia collaboration, and preparing graduates to meet the demands of a rapidly transforming technological landscape.

Sukkur IBA University Observes Defence Day with Patriotic Spirit

Sukkur IBA University observed Defence Day of Pakistan on 6 September with a strong spirit of patriotism, unity and remembrance, paying tribute to the martyrs and heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the motherland.

The Defence Day celebrations commenced with a patriotic walk from Zero Point to Academic Block 3, culminating at Academic Block 2. The walk was led by Pro Vice Chancellor, Main Campus, Prof. Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah, with the Acting Registrar, Deans, Chairpersons of Departments, Sectional Heads, faculty, staff and students actively participating. The participants chanted patriotic slogans, including “Pakistan Zindabad,” throughout the walk, reflecting their love and commitment to the homeland.

Following the walk, a commemorative event was organized at Academic Block 2. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah highlighted the significance of 6 September and paid tribute to the courage, resilience and sacrifices of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and martyrs. He emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices that have safeguarded the country’s sovereignty and inspired generations.

Students also took part in the programme, delivering speeches in English and Urdu on the significance of Defence Day. The atmosphere was further enriched with patriotic songs performed by girl and boy students, reflecting their love for Pakistan.

The event also featured closing remarks by the Acting Registrar and the Director Marketing & Communication Dr. Ishfaque Ahmed Lashari, who appreciated the active participation of students, faculty and staff and reiterated the importance of fostering patriotism and national responsibility among the youth.

The celebrations concluded with a shield and certificate distribution ceremony, recognizing the winners, runners-up and participants of the various activities organized on 14 August as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

The Defence Day celebration at Sukkur IBA University served as a meaningful reminder of the sacrifices of Pakistan’s heroes and reaffirmed the university community’s commitment to the values of patriotism, unity and service to the nation.
