VU Sukkur

VU Sukkur ▀ VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY ▀

is the first ICT based university in Pakistan, which deals in E-Learning

The Virtual University is Pakistan's first public sector university based completely on modern Information and Communication Technologies. The University opened its virtual doors in 2002 using television broadcasts and the Internet thereby allowing students to follow its programs regardless of their physical location. At VU, the top professors of the country, regardless of their institutional affi

liations, develop and deliver hand-crafted courses. The University holds a Federal Charter, making its degrees recognized and accepted all over the country as well as overseas. Pakistani students residing overseas in several other countries have also enrolled in the University’s programs. The University relies on digital media, Internet and free-to-air satellite television broadcasts to impart education. The University has its own four television channels (VTV1, VTV2, VTV3 & VTV4) and students have the liberty to watch their lectures in the comfortable surroundings of their homes which become virtual classrooms of VU or at any of the many VU campuses spread all over the country. These lectures are also available in DVD format and can easily be purchased at a minimal cost from University’s on-line Bookshop (http://bookshop.vu.edu.pk/). The lecture videos are also available on the globally popular YouTube site http://www.youtube.com/vu. Over 6000 video lectures on YouTube make it one of the largest contributions by any university to the Open Education Resources (OER) movement. VU has now published all courses on its open courseware site (http://ocw.vu.edu.pk/), and thereby joined the ranks with top universities of the world. VU’s open courseware website has been ranked as the best new open courseware website for the year 2012 by the international OCW Consortium. The students and teachers use the Internet to interact with each other. For this purpose the Virtual University has developed an online Learning Management System (LMS) through which the students have 24/7 access to reading material, lecture videos and notes and prescribed texts. The LMS is also used to hand out assignments to students and hold pop quizzes and practice tests. This innovative and unique mechanism for the delivery of education adopted by VU offers a high degree of flexibility to students who may view the lectures at a time of their choice.

Announcement for Course Selection Spring 2026 Semester

Announcement for Course Selection

(Semester/ Classes Commencement Date: Monday, April 6, 2026)

Dear Students,

The 'Course Selection' link will be available from Thursday, March 12, 2026, under the 'Course Selection' tab in VULMS. Students are advised to log in to their VULMS account and select their courses immediately on or before the semester commencement date. The last date to add or drop courses for all students is Thursday, April 16, 2026. Tuition fee vouchers once issued after this date will not be revised.

Important Notes:

Newly admitted students, enrolled in the 1st semester of their respective study program, are given pre-selected courses. However, students enrolled through BS Lateral/General Route may select their courses by using VULMS, accordingly.
Existing/ continuing students must make their course selection as mentioned above. Failing to enroll in any course(s) he/she will be treated as “INACTIVE STUDENT” during the semester and a fine will also be imposed under “Semester Freeze Rules”.
Course/ workload (Credit Hours) limits have been prescribed and published separately for each study program in “Course Selection Rules” given in the “Student Handbook” https://handbook.vu.edu.pk/ Students must read the rules carefully before making their course selection.
The VU001 course must be completed to obtain a degree/diploma.
Students admitted through BS Lateral Entry must first complete their prescribed courses of bridging / deficiency semester to become eligible to enroll/select subsequent 5th semester courses as per the program study scheme.
Guidelines/Explanations:

Students are expected to follow the prescribed “semester wise study scheme” of their respective study program so that their scholarship eligibility may not be affected (See Scholarship Rules) https://handbook.vu.edu.pk/HandBook_Pages/directorateofFinance.htm .
Continuously enrolling maximum course/workload in each semester does not mean that a study program can be completed earlier than its minimum prescribed residential requirement.
Course Pre-requisite Rule requires enrollment and qualifying of basic/introductory courses before enrolling in an advanced level course. Therefore, the said rule must be followed and given due care while making course selection.
Maximum degree/diploma time duration: Students who have availed the maximum time duration degree completion period are NOT allowed to make course selections https://handbook.vu.edu.pk/HandBook_Pages/Minimum%20and%20Maximum%20Time%20Duration%20for%20the%20Completion%20of%20a%20Degree%20Program.htm .
Students with blocked VULMS (due to non-payment of fee) will not be allowed to make their course selection, unless they deposit their outstanding dues and get their LMS accounts active from the Accounts Department. To unblock your VU LMS account, you are required to generate a ticket through your own VU LMS account for the Accounts/Finance Department.
Grade Improvement Policy A student may improve a course(s) in which he/she obtained low grades as per Course Selection Rules.
Failed course(s) can be repeated until qualified.
Improved/better grade of a course will substitute/replace the previous/lower grade of a course.
In case of non-improvement of grade, the previous better grade will stand and counted towards CGPA calculation.
A student may repeat only those course(s) of the previous semester(s) in which he/she had secured the lowest grade before completion of entire course work program and mark pass out.
Declaration: I hereby acknowledge that I have read and completely understood the above rules and guidelines including course selection, scholarship and Semester Freeze rules etc. I understand that I shall be responsible for the consequence of violation of said rules and thus promise to abide by the rules framed by the University from time to time.
