17th Convocation of Sarahd University, Peshawar held at Peshawar
17th Convocation of Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology, Peshawar was held here today in Peshawar. Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi was the Chief Guest.
Event was attended by the Prof. Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, Vice Chancellor, SUIT, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Jan, Former Provincial Minister for Higher Education, a large number of graduating students, their parents, Academicians, faculty members and students of the University.
In all 225 degrees were awarded to the students, which included 03 PhD, 64 MS/M.Phil, 158 Bachelors and Associate. 38 gold medals were also awarded to those students who got first position in their respective programs..
While presenting the address of welcome, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, highlighted the achievements of the University obtained in the last 24 years since its inception. He said that University has established so far five faculties, 16 departments and 3 institutes, the current strength of the students is 6000, whereas the number of passed out graduates has been reached to 45000.
He was of the view that the University launched programs of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, which gained much popularity in the recent year. He said it will go a long way in producing qualified health professionals for the country.
All the programs of the University are duly accredited and recognized by the concerned regulatory councils; which include Pakistan Engineering Council, Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, Pakistan Nursing Council, National Technology Council, Allied Health Professional Council and others, he added.
The University is actively engaged in carrying out Sports activities, co-curricular and extra-curricular events. Every year, he said, a large number of University students take part in Sports activities within and outside the University, as well as in the Sports competitions, conducted by HEC at National Level. He said that graduates of University are playing their positive role in the development of the country and serving different departments at National level.
The Convocation was also addressed by the Governor, KP. He appreciated the achievements made by the University over the past 24 years. He congratulated the University management and faculty for maintaining quality academic standards. He also congratulated the recipients of Gold Medals and degrees and their parents.
While talking on the occasion, the Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. Qasim Jan also congratulated the University for maintaining higher educational standards and providing best graduates for the country and nation.
Later on, the Vice Chancellor presented University souvenirs to the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour.
