The Institute aspires to be a center of excellence in engineering sciences and technology, which acts as an effective agent of change and a model for others to emulate. It is autonomous and independently chartered and is funded by the private sector. It strives to attract faculty of outstanding talent and ability to provide the students a supporting and enabling environment. It hopes to produce graduates who distinguish themselves by their professional competence, humanistic outlook and ethical rectitude, pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and organizational and managerial skills. Given these attributes, they should be able to respond adequately to the needs of Pakistan and be the vanguard of their techno-industrial transformation. Apart from its outstanding academic programme, GIKI is also known for the versatility and vibrancy of its extra-curricular scenario. All of these activities are student-organized. At present, GIKI has more than 20 student societies. The event witnessed an impressive gathering of students and faculty, reflecting deep respect for Prof. Qadir’s lifelong contributions to science and academia. During the session, he engaged the audience with insightful excerpts from his book and recited selected poetry, offering a rare glimpse into his intellectual journey and creative pursuits.

The 4th International Conference on Modern Technologies in Mechanical, Materials, and Chemical Engineering (MTME 2026) was inaugurated by an impactful keynote address from Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Prof Zia Ul Haq, S.I, Executive Director, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. He commended the GIK Institute for organizing a conference of international significance and excellence, reflecting Pakistan’s growing academic and research stature.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq articulated HEC’s strategic vision to transform the higher education landscape through enhanced research funding, global academic partnerships, and technology-driven initiatives. GIKI hosted Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore along with a distinguished delegation of UET Lahore. During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, Rector of GIK Institute, along with the pro-rectors, deans, and heads of departments where both sides engaged in strategic discussions on strengthening academic collaboration, advancing research partnerships, and aligning institutional priorities with emerging global trends in engineering and technology.
The visit featured comprehensive discussions on engineering and technology education reforms, including curriculum modernization aligned with evolving industry needs, implementation of outcome-based education (OBE), and integration of emerging technologies into academic programs. Both institutions also emphasized strengthening industry-academia linkages to enhance student employability and applied research outcomes.

4th International Conference on Modern Technologies in Mechanical, Materials, and Chemical Engineering (MTME 2026), bringing together distinguished researchers, industry leaders, and academicians from across the globe at the GIK Institute.

The two-day conference commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony, setting the stage for high-level academic exchange and collaboration. Prof. Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, Rector GIK Institute and Patron-in-Chief of MTME 2026, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the critical role of interdisciplinary engineering in addressing global challenges. He reaffirmed GIK Institute’s commitment to fostering innovation, research excellence, and sustainable technological development.

The Guest of Honor, Prof. Dr. Fiaz Hussain Shah (University of Lahore), emphasized the importance of strengthening academia-industry linkages and promoting inter-university collaboration to accelerate knowledge sharing and commercialization of research.

In his keynote address, the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Executive Director, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, commended GIK Institute for hosting a conference of international significance. He underscored HEC’s vision for advancing higher education through research funding, international partnerships, and technology-driven initiatives, while urging researchers to focus on emerging fields such as renewable energy, advanced materials, and sustainable chemical processes.

MTME 2026 features a comprehensive program of plenary sessions, technical presentations, and panel discussions covering advanced manufacturing, nanotechnology, thermodynamics, polymer engineering, and the integration of artificial intelligence in engineering systems.
