STAND4HERITAGE (S4H) is a 5-years research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC) aiming at defining new standards for the seismic assessment of historical masonry structures.

The S4H team recently published a research paper in the Journal of Earthquake Engineering, authored by Dr. Shaghayegh Karimzadeh, S. M. Sajad Hussaini, Daniel Caicedo, and Prof. Paulo B. Lourenço, in collaboration with Dr. Alexandra Carvalho from LNEC and Dr. Sanaz Rezaeian from USGS. The study extends the Azores Plateau ground motion simulations to include soil-amplified records and introduces a comprehensive validation framework. The accuracy of the dataset is verified through a comprehensive validation framework, showing that the randomization effectively captures variance and inter-period correlation observed in records. This work provides a robust dataset for advancing seismic hazard and risk assessment in the Azores Plateau.

ESREL 2026 Conference | 14–16 June 2026 | Braga, Portugal
We invite you to submit your work to the Special Session SS-32, titled “Advancing Multi-Hazard Risk Frameworks through Life-Cycle Assessment for Sustainable and Resilient Built Environments,” to be held during the European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL 2026) in Braga, Portugal.
This session is organized by two members of the S4H team, Dr. Shaghayegh Karimzadeh and Mr. Daniel Caicedo, in collaboration with Dr. Omid Hassanshahi and Dr. Amirhossein Mohammadi.
The session aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss advances in multi-hazard risk modeling, life-cycle assessment, and sustainability-driven design frameworks, promoting resilient and climate-adapted built environments.

Proceedings:
The ESREL 2026 Proceedings will be published by Research Publishing, Singapore, and indexed in Scopus. Access to the published proceedings will be available through the official ESREL 2026 website.

We are thrilled to announce a call for abstracts for two pivotal Minisymposiums at COMPDYN2025, which will be held in Rhodes Island, Greece, from June 15-18, 2025. Dr. Shaghayegh Karimzadeh had the chance to give an invited speech at the 18th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (WCEE2024) in Milan, Italy, in a session organised by Dr. Sanaz Rezaeian from USGS, Assist. Prof. Mayssa Dabaghi from the American University of Beirut, and Prof. Roberto Paolucci from Politecnico di Milano titled "GRM4-Simulation, Validation, and Utilization of Earthquake Ground Motions for Engineering Applications," under the COSMOS working group's efforts.
