Study in Portugal Network A Flexible Study Abroad Program Designed for North-American Students! Customize your program with classes and/or internships abroad!

The Study in Portugal Network (SiPN) study abroad program is managed by the non-profit Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD). It offers North American students the opportunity to spend a semester, year or a summer in this vibrant country. SiPN provides an academically rigorous but flexible study abroad program that is designed to meet the needs of undergraduates from a variety of majors. Internships and research opportunities (for credit) are also available.

We are thrilled to announce that the Study in Portugal Network (SiPN) is expanding to the city of Porto!

In partnership with the Universidade do Porto, we will be developing new summer and semester opportunities, alongside additional study, internship, and research experiences for U.S study abroad students.

The partnership is now officially formalized, and we expect to open recruitment later this year for the inaugural SiPN @ UPorto Spring 2027 semester program - combining offerings in Humanities and Business-related fields.

We look forward to welcoming students to one of Europe’s most vibrant academic and cultural destinations, while also expanding SiPN’s reach to the north of Portugal.

FLAD’s team attended the Forum on Education Abroad annual conference in Nashville, where they promoted the Study in Portugal Network program and announced that FLAD will host the Forum on Education Abroad’s CIGL and EMEA conferences at Universidade de Lisboa this October.

The Gilman-FLAD Scholarship partnership continues for U.S. students who wish to 🇵🇹📚

This scholarship are available to applicants whose abroad programs or internships start between May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027. This cycle encompasses Maymester 2026, Summer 2026, Fall 2026, academic year 2026-2027, and Spring 2027 abroad programs.
