Call for PhD candidates in Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience
The Laboratory of Neuropsychophysiology is seeking candidates interested in applying to a PhD scholarship in the field of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience.
What profile should candidates have?
- Be motivated to conduct research in Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience and eligible to apply for a PhD program at the University of Porto;
- Ideally, should have completed a master’s degree in Psychological or Biological Sciences within the last 5 years;
- A high level of proficiency in English;
- Must commit to working full-time at the Lab during their PhD project, upon successful funding.
What do we offer?
The Laboratory of Neuropsychophysiology hosts research in Cognitive, Affective, and Social Neuroscience, with a specific focus on the neural bases of the cognitive and emotional processes underlying emotional perception and social decision-

The Lab is well equipped with a state-of the-art EEG system, as well as other equipment to collect neurophysiological, physiological, and behavior data: polygraphs, fNIRS, eye-tracking, VR-system, stimulation units, and dedicated signal processing stations.
Our team includes experienced researchers in the field, with a strong track record of securing competitive funding and supervising doctoral students, most with PhD grants.
Selected candidates will be invited to join our team and receive full support in preparing a competitive application for upcoming funding opportunities in 2026.
