CALL FOR PAPERS 2025
TRANSLATION STUDIES: RETROSPECTIVE AND PERSPECTIVE VIEWS, academic journal aimed at disseminating the latest developments in the field of Translation Studies and Translatology, P-ISSN 2065-3514, E-ISSN 2501-0778, edited by the Department of English, Faculty of Letters, “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati, Romania, with the support of the Doctoral School of Socio-Humanities and the Research Centre Interface Research of the Original and Translated Text – Cognitive and Communicative Dimensions of the Message, invites proposals of original articles, related to the general theme of the journal.
The editors will consider for publication papers which tackle, among others:
- Translation studies;
- Cultural studies;
- Language studies;
- Stylistics/ Poetics and translation;
- Film and drama translation;
- Language for Specific Purposes and Terminology in translation;
- Applied Linguistics;
- Literary translation and/or adaptation.
Please send your proposals (title, abstract and 5 keywords) to [email protected] by August 30th, 2025. Following preliminary acceptance, authors are expected to send their full-articles by September 28th, 2025.
Every manuscript is single-blind peer-reviewed by two senior researchers or academics. The authors will be notified of the editorial decision in maximum 20 days. The new issue (28/2025) is scheduled to appear at the end of 2025.
The journal is indexed in Ebsco, CEEEOL, St. Jerome Publishing, Index Copernicus, Fabula, and currently under evaluation by Erih+. Translation Studies provides open access to its peer-reviewed contents through these databases and on the journal’s website, http://www.translation-studies.net. Also, Translation studies appears in print at Casa Cărții de Știință, a renowned publishing house located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Publication fee (covers the printed volume and European shipping): € 30.

Centrul de cercetare Teoria și practica discursului (CCTPD) al Departamentului de limba și literatura franceză și centrul de cercetare Cercetarea de interfață a textului original și tradus (LITCIT) al Departamentului de engleză din cadrul Facultății de Litere, Universitatea „Dunărea de Jos” din Galați, organizează colocviul internațional Traduire les culturèmes: paris et défis/The Challenge of Translating Culture-specific Elements, care va avea loc în perioada 19-20 septembrie 2024, în format hibrid.

Manifestarea, care susține contrastivitatea și interdisciplinaritatea în zonele culturale ale traductologiei, lingvisticii și analizei discursului, este axată pe studiul culturemelor, un concept fundamental în reprezentarea culturală și lingvistică a oricărei comunități. Lucrările colocviului vor fi prezentate în limbile română, engleză și franceză, iar printre participanți se numără specialiști în domeniul traducerii literare și specializate, cercetători și reprezentanți ai mediului academic de la universități de prestigiu din țară și din străinătate.

Perspectives and challenges in doctoral research

Dear PhD Students and Postdoc Researchers,
Dear Colleagues,

We have the pleasure to invite you to participate to the 12th edition of the Scientific Conference organized by the Doctoral Schools of “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galati (SCDS-UDJG), on 6th and 7th of June 2024, in Galati, Romania.

The objectives of the 2024 Conference is to bring together perspectives and challenges in doctoral research to a common forum. The aim of the conference is to provide a platform to the doctoral researchers to meet and share state of the art developments in their field. On this occasion, our institution targets to promote excellence in research, to set up partnerships and collaborative relationships through the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

As in the previous editions, the conference invites oral and poster presentations in fourteen concurrent sections related to the main domains of the doctoral research at UDJG. Workshops, exhibition stands and social activities are also included in the programme, all with the aim of developing and improving the network of the doctoral schools.
