VSUFT is one of the oldest universities in the city of Voronezh , was created July 23, 1930. In 1923, it was reorganized into a Forestry Faculty. F. N. Naumenko.

In 1918, a forestry department was opened as part of Voronezh Agricultural Institute. In 1930, Voronezh Agricultural Institute was divided into several institutes and Voronezh Institute of Forestry Engineering was established on the basis of the Forestry Faculty. The university changed its name several times: Forestry Institute (1930–1931), Institute of Forestry (1932–1935), Silvicultural Institut

e (1936–1937), Forestry Institute (1938–1955), Forestry Ingineering Institute (1956–1980), Forestry Institute of the order of Friendship of Peoples (1980–1994), Academy of Forestry Engineering (1994–2015), Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G. Morozov (2015). In 1952-1953 the Institute's arboretum was established at the field site opposite the main building covering an area of 3.5 hectares. This work was done by the students and professors. One of the founders of the arboretum was E. The Rector of Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G. F. Morozov Mikhail Drapalyuk shared his views on the key trends in the admissions campaign, career guidance work, and personnel training. One of the central topics of the discussion was attracting applicants from other regions. Mikhail Drapalyuk noted that almost all constituent entities of the Russian Federation are represented in the enrollment orders. “It’s so nice to see parents coming with their children and leaving them in our city, in our dormitory, in our university”, - Mikhail Valentinovich emphasized. He also noted that the career guidance work carried out by the university throughout the year helps schoolchildren make a conscious choice of profession.

In response to the host’s questions, the Rector of VSUFT spoke about the popularity of the training areas. Despite the growing interest in engineering specialties, he emphasized the importance of economic and legal competencies. Special attention in the conversation was paid to secondary vocational education programmes.

Mikhail Drapalyuk noted that the university has a system in place for transitioning between education levels, which allows students to continue their studies at the higher level after obtaining secondary vocational education, already having practical experience. The Rector also touched upon the topic of attracting young scientists. He noted that the university’s task is to identify talented students from their first years and create conditions for their academic growth.

Postgraduate studies, dissertation councils, and social guarantees play an important role.
Speaking about the future of higher education, the Rector noted that specialist degree programmes are becoming increasingly in demand, but bachelor’s and master’s programmes should be preserved to attract international students. “Universities are centres that attract students from abroad. We must provide them with a Russian education so that they can take it back to their home countries”, - he added.

Graduates of the preparatory department of Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G. F. Morozov for foreign citizens are taking entrance exams for bachelor’s degree programmes these days. Applicants from Bangladesh, Burundi, Benin, and Turkmenistan are taking tests in the Russian language and specialized subjects.

“Over the course of a year, we worked with the students on the Russian language and specialized subjects. During this time, the students progressed from a zero level of language proficiency to confident communication on everyday and academic topics.

We tried not only to provide them with the necessary knowledge but also to introduce them to Russian culture and traditions so that the adaptation process would be as comfortable as possible.

And I’m glad that our efforts have borne fruit. The students successfully passed the final exams under the preparatory programme and are now successfully passing the entrance exams. This is an indication of their diligence and strong desire to study at VSUFT", - said Ekaterina Fedosova, director of the preparatory department for foreign citizens of the Institute of International Education, Candidate of Philological Sciences.

According to Ekaterina Yuryevna, many students see their future in the development of the tourism industry and therefore have chosen the “Tourism” programme at the Economics Faculty of VSUFT for their further studies. The Forestry Faculty and the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology also remain in demand among foreigners.

It should be noted that the preparatory department of VSUFT annually admits foreign citizens from countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The training programme lasts 8–10 months and includes an intensive Russian language course and specialized subjects. Over the years, the university has trained hundreds of specialists in various fields for foreign countries.

Ekaterina Golova, a master student of the FCSaT of VSUFT, will create the OrnamentAI digital platform for the preservation, recognition and generation of ethnocultural ornaments. Her project became the winner of the "Student Startup" Innovation Promotion Foundation contest and will receive grant support in the amount of 1 million rubles for the implementation of the startup within 12 months.

According to Ekaterina, the digital platform will provide designers, creative industries and educational institutions with access to authentic cultural ornaments; it allows them to ethically generate and restore ornaments using artificial intelligence.

The platform includes key functional modules: an ornament generator based on a text description, as well as a digital restorer. It allows you to restore damaged and fragmented ornaments based on photos. Thanks to the recognition and analysis module, it will be possible to determine the origin, authenticity, and historical and cultural context of the ornament.

The platform will contain a knowledge base with verified ethnographic data and AI-based training modules. A web service and a mobile application are also provided.

Preliminary work has already been carried out with partner organizations, museums of the Tambov Region, Moscow and St. Petersburg. The project is supposed to be implemented in two stages. An important part will be its commercialization.

🚨 IMPORTANT COMMUNITY ALERT — VSUFT

We would like to bring a serious matter to the attention of the international student community at Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies (VSUFT), particularly students from Bangladesh.

According to multiple complaints and reports from members of the Bangladeshi student community, Md. Minhazul Islam Ridoy (Bangladesh) and his wife, Mst. Rabiya Khatun (Bangladesh), both reportedly students of VSUFT, are alleged to be involved in a major financial matter involving approximately RUB 35 million (35,000,000 Russian Rubles) belonging to Bangladeshi students.

According to the affected students, they used these individuals as intermediaries to transfer their money on their behalf. It is alleged that, after receiving the funds, the individuals took advantage of the trust placed in them and failed to complete the intended transactions, retained the money, and subsequently became unreachable.

Affected students reportedly have not received their money back or any clear information regarding its whereabouts.

The reported amount and number of potentially affected students make this a matter of serious concern for the entire community.

⚠️ All students are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution when using individuals as intermediaries for financial transactions. Do not transfer large amounts of money without proper verification, documentation, and evidence of the transaction.

Anyone who believes they have been affected should preserve all payment receipts, transaction records, screenshots, messages, and other relevant evidence and report the matter to the appropriate authorities.

We also respectfully request the VSUFT administration and relevant authorities to take note of the concerns raised by affected students and provide appropriate assistance within their legal authority.

Мы хотели бы обратить внимание международного студенческого сообщества Воронежского государственного университета лесотехнических технологий (ВГЛТУ), особенно студентов из Бангладеш, на серьезную финансовую ситуацию.

Согласно многочисленным жалобам и сообщениям от членов бангладешского студенческого сообщества, МД. Минхазул Ислам Ридой (Бангладеш) и его жена Мст. Рабия Хатун (Бангладеш), которые, как сообщается, являются студентами ВГЛТУ, предположительно связаны с финансовым вопросом на сумму около 35 миллионов российских рублей, принадлежащих студентам из Бангладеш.

По словам пострадавших студентов, они использовали этих лиц в качестве посредников для перевода денежных средств от своего имени. Заявленная сумма и потенциальное количество пострадавших студентов вызывают серьезную обеспокоенность всего сообщества.

⚠️ Мы настоятельно призываем всех студентов проявлять максимальную осторожность при передаче денежных средств через посредников. Перед осуществлением любых финансовых операций необходимо тщательно проверять человека, сохранять подтверждения и иметь документальные доказательства каждой транзакции.

Студентам, которые считают себя пострадавшими, рекомендуется сохранить все квитанции, подтверждения переводов, скриншоты, переписку и другие имеющиеся доказательства и обратиться в соответствующие компетентные органы.

Студент факультета компьютерных наук и технологий ВГЛТУ Павел Вытовтов создаст IoT-систему мониторинга водоемов. Проект стал победителем конкурса Фонда содействия инновациям «Студенческий стартап».

Он получит грунтовую поддержку в размере 1 млн рублей на реализацию своей идеи. Решение, которое предложит Павел Вытовтов, предназначено для автоматизированного сбора и анализа параметров состояния водных объектов и может применяться в природоохранной деятельности и экологическом контроле.

Как пояснил Павел, цель проекта – создать доступную отечественную систему раннего выявления загрязнений и предотвращения экологических катастроф, которая заменит дорогостоящие импортные аналоги.

Ежегодно в России фиксируются сотни случаев загрязнения водоемов промышленными стоками, нефтепродуктами и бытовыми отходами. Оперативный мониторинг качества воды остается сложной и дорогостоящей задачей. Существующие импортные системы стоят десятки миллионов рублей и недоступны большинству природоохранных организаций и муниципалитетов.

Традиционные методы отбора проб и лабораторного анализа не позволяют получать данные в реальном времени и оперативно реагировать на угрозы.

Система будет состоять из трех ключевых уровней: сенсорного, транспортного и аналитического, Сенсорный слой в виде подводного блока будет измерять параметры воды. Транспортный слой — надводный вычислительный блок сделает первичную обработку и отправит данные на облачную платформу. Аналитический блок - облачная платформа и AI-модуль. На сегодня уже собран демонстрационный стенд с возможностью измерения пяти параметров воды.

Ведутся переговоры о пилотном внедрении с потенциальными заказчиками из числа природоохранных организаций Воронежской области. В планах молодого новатора создать полностью рабочий прототип устройства, зарегистрировать программу для ЭВМ (AI-алгоритм) в Роспатенте и подготовить заявку на грант «Старт-1» (ФСИ) для выхода на серийное производство. Проект предполагается масштабировать сначала в Воронежской области, а затем и в других регионах России.

Конкурс «Студенческий стартап» проводится Фондом содействия инновациям в рамках федерального проекта «Платформа университетского технологического предпринимательства». Грант в размере 1 млн рублей выделяется на реализацию инновационных проектов студентов в течение 12 месяцев.

Alexander Shkolnykh, a postgraduate student of the Department of Forestry Mechanization and Machine Design of VSUFT, reached the final of the All–Russian contest "Science of the Future - Science of the Young". The selection was carried out within the framework of the XI All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum.

Alexander's research project was selected from more than 3400 applications received from 81 regions. The study is devoted to substantiating the optimal parameters of the planting apparatus and sealing rollers of the planting machine designed for seedlings with a closed root system. The results were obtained on the basis of simulation modeling.

The work is supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation for a project aimed at creating an ecosystem of forest machines for the reproduction and conservation of forests using computer engineering methods.

The contest is organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The final will be held in Nizhny Novgorod.

Within the framework of the state assignment of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, an international research group has been established under the leadership of Darya Litovchenko, an Associate Professor of the Department of Forestry, Forest Inventory and Forest Management of VSUFT. The group includes scientists from Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G.F. Morozov, the University of Belgrade (Serbia), and the universities of East Sarajevo and Banja Luka in the Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Over the course of three years, an international scientific team will conduct comprehensive studies in Russia (in the Central Forest‑Steppe zone), Serbia, and the Republika Srpska.

Russian scientists are establishing trial plots measuring one hectare each in upland oak groves and pine forests in the Belgorod, Lipetsk, Kursk, and Voronezh regions. The studies cover plantations of different ages growing in various forest growth conditions. In these areas, specialists will conduct a complete census of the trees, measure their diameter and height, and determine the sanitary condition of each tree, establish soil profiles, and collect samples of the forest litter for subsequent determination of carbon reserves. This summer, scientists from Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G.F. Morozov. have already established trial plots in the Voronezh and Lipetsk regions and begun their research.In parallel, similar studies are being conducted in the Republika Srpska. According to Darya Litovchenko, the local climate is characterized by higher aridity and elevated air temperatures.

A comparative analysis will make it possible to assess the impact of climate change on the condition and productivity of the main forest‑forming species and carbon stocks in the forest ecosystems of the Central Forest‑Steppe of Russia and the Republika Srpska.
The studies are based on uniform methodological approaches.

This ensures a high degree of comparability of the obtained forestry and inventory indicators and allows scientists to objectively compare data obtained under different climatic and geographical conditions. A distinctive feature of the project is the combination of traditional ground‑based inventory methods with advanced Earth remote sensing technologies.

This comprehensive approach makes it possible to create accurate spatially distributed predictive models that help assess the condition of forests in different regions of the Earth with a high degree of detail.

“The implementation of the project is of great importance for the development of scientifically grounded approaches to assessing forest bioproductivity, modeling carbon stocks, and developing measures to prevent their loss in the context of global climate change, - Darya Litovchenko explained.

- The research results can be used in shaping sustainable forest management strategies both in Russia and abroad”.

Students of the Timber Industry Faculty of VSUFT, majoring in "Biotechnology", completed their practical training at the LLC "VEGA-eco" testing bacteriological laboratory. The students learned about the full cycle of bacteriological analysis, from sampling water, soil, and industrial waste to conducting microbiological tests and documenting the results.

They worked with professional equipment, learned about the methods of determining sanitary and microbiological indicators, and studied the enzymatic activity of bacterial strains and modern approaches to assessing the environmental safety of objects.

The cooperation between VSUFT and LLC "VEGA-eco" is an example of effective interaction between the university and the real sector of the economy. The company actively recruits young specialists for internships and, later, for employment.

Practical classes on anger management were held in the main building of VSUFT, as well as in the building of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The trainings were conducted by psychologist Ekaterina Pigalitsyna. The students learned about the nature of the emotion of anger, the causes of its occurrence, and the main categories of situations that trigger this reaction. In the classroom, we examined which genuine emotions are often hidden behind external irritation, using exercises from cognitive behavioral therapy.

The participants got acquainted with the gradations of anger and the scale of subjective experience - they learned to distinguish the shades of this feeling. As the presenter noted, anger, anger, irritation and indignation differ in intensity, causes of appearance and energy charge.
The main part of the training was devoted to practical techniques for reducing peak emotional reactions. Under the guidance of a psychologist, students have mastered self-regulation techniques that can be applied in stressful situations.

Taste of Bangladesh: students of the preparatory department introduced Bengali cuisine to the University

The aromas of cinnamon, cumin and cardamom appeared in the study corridors for one day. Students of the preparatory department of groups 3, 5 and 11 organized a gastronomic celebration dedicated to Bengali cuisine.

The preparation started the night before. In the kitchen of the student dormitory, the students prepared dishes according to traditional family recipes. The main task was to maintain a balance of spiciness - not everyone in Russia is used to a lot of chili.

The lecturers noted that for students from Bangladesh, serving food made with their own hands is not a way to get a good grade, but an ancient tradition of gratitude (Dahina). In their culture, the teacher occupies an important place after the parents.

Senior lecturers of the preparatory department Maya Komarova and Marina Grevtseva also decided to support the initiative. They prepared traditional Russian dishes. The students called the homemade fried potatoes with chicken "the Russian sun on a plate" and asked for more. And the cake prepared by the lecturer became a discovery for the Bengali students — they got used to desserts with a different texture, although they were also very sweet.
