CAIG @ SUSS Day 2026!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, chatted with us, and took the time to learn more about what we do at CAIG!

We’ve received a record number of applications for recruitment! Interviews have begun and we’re excited to welcome our new members and continue creating a space where we can stay informed, challenge perspectives, and have meaningful conversations about the world around us. On 18 August 2026, SUSS Current Affairs Interest Group and SUARA came together for an interfaith dialogue exploring the role of media in shaping conversations around faith, identity and social cohesion in Singapore.

As a student-led initiative, the dialogue provided a neutral and constructive platform to engage with these sensitive issues openly and responsibly. We are heartened by the support of our school and the authorities in empowering students to contribute meaningfully to conversations that matter to our society.

We were honoured to hear from:
🎙️ Kevin Lim — former Editor at Channel NewsAsia, The Wall Street Journal and other leading news organisations
🎙️ Sudhir Vadaketh — Editor-in-Chief of Jom
🎙️ Ustazah Lina Sakinah — Honorary Treasurer, Centre for Interfaith Understanding
🎙️ Natasha Ann Zachariah — Senior Correspondent, The Straits Times, who moderated the dialogue

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi (Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi), our Guest of Honour, for his support of the dialogue. While he was unable to join us due to a bereavement, we extend our deepest condolences to him and his family during this difficult time.

The dialogue was conducted under the Chatham House Rules, which was strictly observed throughout the session to facilitate open and candid discussion.

Thank you to SUSS, SUARA, our panelists and moderator, and everyone who joined us for this meaningful conversation! Thoughtful dialogue, especially on difficult subjects, is how we strengthen understanding and hold our diverse society together.

On 25 July 2026, the SUSS Current Affairs Interest Group (CAIG) had the honour of attending this year’s National Day Preview! It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate Singapore’s journey and achievements, and reflect on the shared values and aspirations that continue to shape our nation. 🙌
