Though situated in an Asian country, the academic model employed by TUM Asia is nevertheless German in its roots, with an emphasis on industry readiness and innovation. Since 2002, TUM Asia has been running joint Master Programmes conferred by TUM, with NTU and NUS. The students have access to a diverse range of professors who are among the best

in their field of expertise, as well as possessing a wealth of industry experience. TUM Asia also collaborates with Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), offering 2 Bachelor's programmes - Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Data Engineering; and Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering. All degrees are campus-blind & conferred by TUM, thus our graduates have a world-renowned education which qualifies them to work in the best companies the industries have to offer. TUM Asia is registered in Singapore as an Institute of Higher Learning (IHL). CPE Registration Number: 200105229R / Registration Period: 13.06.2017 - 12.06.2023

Two degrees, one transformative journey.

From Chemical Engineering to Industrial Chemistry, TUM alumna Rachel’s time at TUM Asia gave her more than technical knowledge. She learnt to think critically, dig deeper, embrace the uncertainties of research and work confidently across cultures.

So, when her journey took her to a research internship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, she was ready to hit the ground running, putting those skills to work on real-world research projects.

Meet Lu Hongyu, recipient of the Best Thesis Award for our MSc in Industrial Chemistry programme, Class of 2026!

What began as a simple habit in a lab class — asking "why" instead of just following instructions — became the mindset that carried her through an award-winning thesis and an R&D internship at Saint-Gobain, where she worked through the full innovation cycle of developing a new filter product.

Behind the award were months of uncertainty and countless failed experiments. But instead of giving up, Hongyu kept refining, adjusting, and improving, one step at a time.

"Stay curious, be proactive, and don't just focus on getting the right answer. Focus on understanding why."

From a childhood fascination with flight to engineering safer skies ✈️🔧

Meet Bou Ziab Daniel, Best Student in our MSc Aerospace Engineering programme, Class of 2026! One module changed everything for him: Safety and Certification of Avionics. This module set him on a path towards aviation safety. From Singapore classrooms to Professor Holzapfel's Institute of Flight Dynamics at TU Munich, Daniel dove into Systems Engineering and even explored how AI could support Functional Hazard Assessment in his thesis.

Today, he's a Safety Engineer at an aviation startup in Munich, helping shape the next generation of aircraft technology.

"The award gave me confidence and reminded me that steady effort, even when progress feels slow, can eventually lead to something meaningful."

Meet Zhang Meng, Best Student in our MSc Green Electronics programme, Class of 2026!

With only a background in Information and Communication Engineering, semiconductor manufacturing and device physics were completely new territory for her. But through curiosity, discipline and an unforgettable internship at GlobalFoundries as a Device Engineer, Zhang Meng turned unfamiliar ground into real expertise.

Today, she's a Process Integration Engineer at UMC, with her sights set on leading complex semiconductor projects.

"The most important skill is learning how to filter information—knowing what matters most and identifying the most effective path towards your goal."
