NUS Stage We are an English Drama and Theatre group from the National University of Singapore!

Originally formed in October 2006, the university wide English language drama group, then named Varsity Drama became a member of NUS Centre For the Arts in 2008 and was renamed as NUS Stage. Under the mentorship of Checkpoint Theatre’s Artistic Directors Claire Wong and Huzir Sulaiman from 2008 to 2013, the group has won acclaim with script-driven works such as Life! Theatre Award nominated play F

aith Ng’s (wo)men, Shiv Tandan’s The Good, the Bad and the Sholay and the collaborative piece City Night Songs. The group also staged Shifting Sands at the ExxonMobil Campus Concerts 2011 and Playout: A Double Bill at NUS Arts Festival 2014. In 2014/2015, NUS Stage focused its interest on building stronger foundations for a closer-knit community of theatre practitioners within NUS. Facilitated by leading Singapore theatre practitioners, Stage Two was a platform where members of NUS Stage were given the opportunity to train on a regular basis and attend workshops and classes with a long term view of developing a unique voice in Singapore theatre. We are currently being trained by renowned theatre practitioner Edith Podesta. She has directed us in "The Golden Record" in 2017 and we have also put up smaller productions at various NUS events.

🚨 NATIONAL PHENOMENON: Local woman, 20, reportedly maintains personal friendships with an implausibly large percentage of the population. Statisticians have declared the probability “mathematically inconvenient.”

📍 SINGAPORE, 1984 — Authorities attempting to trace the source of an unusually lively atmosphere across NUS Stage found themselves repeatedly arriving at the same conclusion: Gabby had been there first.

Witnesses report that Gabby has an extraordinary tendency to turn passing conversations into bonding moments, newcomers into old friends, and ambitious ideas into reality. Despite operating with what can only be described as controlled chaos, she has somehow managed to convince those around her that everything is, in fact, under control.

The woman in question has since been appointed President of NUS Stage, where she can be expected to rally the community, lead with conviction, and turn even the most chaotic ideas into something worth getting excited about. 🎭
