BGST - Biblical Graduate School of Theology "Theological Education for Marketplace Christians"

Visit us at http://www.bgst.edu.sg Too often the training of lay persons is brief and disjointed.

This is the official page of Biblical Graduate School of Theology. BGST engages the whole people of God in a community that promotes excellence in learning amongst working professionals. Together we seek to grow in Christlikeness and develop an integrated biblical worldview for effective service in the Church and the Workplace. BGST recognises that believers often find the gap between the

ir vocation and what they do and learn in church wider than they can manage. BGST hopes to offer a thorough and systematic study programme for lay people, to help them live out their Christian faith in their vocations and be more effective in serving God. In providing such training, BGST also seeks to increase the pool of suitably trained persons who can assist their pastors or leaders in the pastoral ministry of the Church as well as others who work alongside the Church. BGST welcomes students from overseas. By extending our training to Christians from other countries BGST seeks to share God’s blessing with these brothers and sisters, learning from them and forging a close link and partnership between churches in Singapore and elsewhere. BGST regularly holds public lectures and seminars, which aim to encourage lay people in theological reflection how to bring Christian faith to bear on everyday life. BGST sees itself as offering a service to the churches of Singapore and as complementing the work of other theological schools.

Join us for ETHOS Roundtable 2026: Theology of the Body, featuring a main presentation by Dr Khaw Siew Ping, Faculty at Trinity Theological College.

How might a biblical vision of the body challenge contemporary assumptions about ageing, technology and gender—and shape faithful Christian engagement in a rapidly changing world?

Dr Khaw will lead the evening’s main sharing, Theology of the Body. The roundtable will also feature responses from Dr Calvin Chong on ageing, Dr Fong Choon Sam on the body and technology, and BGST Principal Dr Lai Pak-Wah on transgenderism.

Moderated by Rev Dr Edmund Fong, the session welcomes thoughtful questions and discussion from all participants.

🏨📰🌸 What connects Raffles Hotel, The Straits Times, and Singapore’s national flower to a small community of Armenian Christians?

The answer lies in the remarkable story of Armenian believers who made Singapore their home in its early years.

Though small in number, this Christian community left a lasting imprint on the city: the Sarkies brothers and Raffles Hotel, Catchick Moses and The Straits Times, and Agnes Joaquim and Vanda Miss Joaquim. At the centre of their communal life stood the Armenian Apostolic Church of St Gregory the Illuminator—Singapore’s oldest surviving Christian church building. ⛪

✨ Join BGST Collective as we explore the faith, lives, and enduring legacy of these Armenian Christians at the Armenian Heritage Centre.

📅 Date: 31 October
🕒 Time: 3.00–5.00 pm
📍 Venue: Armenian Heritage Gallery, 60 Hill Street
🎁 Do consider a love gift on the day towards the tour cost.
