⛳️🏆 Celebrating our NUS golfers! Last night, the spirit of camaraderie was in full swing at the NUS Golfers Appreciation Dinner, as our National University of SG, NUSS The Graduate Club and NUS Golf golfing community came together to celebrate friendship, sportsmanship and another memorable tournament.

And once again, congratulations to Team NUS on bringing home the Tunku Chancellor Cup! 🏆👏

A big thank-you to everyone who took part, and to Ms Angelia Tay, our NUS Golf Captain, for bringing the team together.

Here’s to the friendships made, and we look forward to continuing this tradition at the next tournament! ⛳️💙

Earlier today, we had the pleasure of hosting a lunch with alumni from the NUS Graduate School. 💙

The gathering brought together alumni across research, industry, entrepreneurship and technology, creating an opportunity to reconnect, exchange perspectives and reflect on the different paths that can follow a graduate journey at National University of Singapore.

A key highlight was a sharing by Dr Andreea Radulescu (PhD–MBA ’22), Venture Partner (New Materials) at Entropia Capital, on “Lessons from Crossing the Lab-to-Market Divide.” Drawing on her journey from chemistry and nanotechnology research to entrepreneurship, technology commercialisation and deep-tech investment, she reflected on the challenges of making the leap from research to entrepreneurship, and the need to better equip students and researchers with the entrepreneurial mindset, commercial skills and practical exposure to translate ideas from the lab into real-world applications and consider entrepreneurship as a potential career pathway. The lunch also explored the growing role of AI in research, how researchers can continue to add value alongside AI, and the importance of balancing its opportunities with potential risks.

We had a wonderful time connecting with:
- Dr Ajinkya Bhat (PhD ’23)
- Dr Anthony Chua (Science ‘09, PhD ’15)
- Dr Feng Ling (Science ‘08, PhD ’13)
- Dr Barbara Poinard (PhD ’19)
- Dr Qiu Zixuan (PhD ’16)
- Dr Tan Jia Chi (PhD ’25)
- Dr Tan Mei Hui (Engineering ‘11, PhD ’17)

We were honoured to be joined by Tan Eng Chye Prof Tan Eng Chye (Science ‘85) together with Chief Alumni Officer Ms Ovidia Lim-Rajaram (Arts and Social Sciences ‘89) and Acting Dean of NUS Graduate School Prof Wong Lim Soon, who co-hosted the session.

A meaningful afternoon of reconnecting, sharing ideas and celebrating the many ways our alumni continue to make an impact. 💙

Why not chocolate? 🍫

For NUS alumni Abhimanyu Goel (MSc ISD ’16) and Aakanksha Jain (MSc ISD ’16), one simple question sparked an unexpected journey from architecture and urban planning to 3D-printed chocolate.

Today, their brand, Modesi Chocolates, creates edible designs inspired by Singapore’s architecture, cultural motifs and festive traditions—from Peranakan tiles to Hari Raya patterns.

What started as a pandemic hobby has grown into an award-winning business that shows how creativity can take shape in the most unexpected ways.

How can molecules work better for us while keeping their unwanted effects at bay?

Prof Giorgia Pastorin, Head of NUS Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Dept at National University of Singapore, takes us from her childhood in Venice to her work as a scientist , where she explores how molecules can be harnessed to tackle complex challenges in healthcare and beyond.

🧬 From developing safer approaches to cancer drug delivery - including a modified form of cisplatin that has shown promising results - to rethinking the science behind hair dyes and skin allergies, her work is united by one goal; understanding how molecules behave and finding ways to make them work better for us.

But behind every breakthrough lies a less visible side of research - from rejected grants, failed experiments, setbacks and countless iterations.

“One step forward, two steps back, but with better understanding.”
